Bill Hess to program Air America

Bill Hess is off to be a Senior VP of Programming at Air America radio. I hope he brought his lifejacket, 'cause this is a sinking ship.

Should we start a pool on how long he lasts there?

Are they still around? I thought they went chapter 11

You've gotta figure a sinking Air America ship can't be much worse than the Clear Channel ship. He probably figures he might as well squeeze the best salary out of the industry for as long as possible before everybody at the station is eliminated except for a $7/hr part-time engineer.

Air America? I thought they were long gone too~ How many affiliates do they have? Three!
According to their site, ~60. Maybe they add one to Providence now?

If that nightmare ever returns to Providence than I would like to see it on AM 550 and boot Radio Disney. I still refuse to believe that many kids are choosing that mono AM signal over something better on the FM side.

John, much like the predessors here in Providence (stations owned by Outlet, Cherry & Webb, etc), Radio Disney is THE PERFECT tool for no cost promotions for EVERYTHING Disney (High School Musical, Hannah Montana, Disney Mania, new Disney movies, Jonas Brothers, etc) that parents will tune into so they don't have to worry about explaining why this artist said this word or what does that song mean.....Parents can tune in to the station while driving and not have to worry about it. For those kids who have their own radios, they make the decisions; but in terms of when parent's are driving and controlling the station, that is the best choice

Don't mistake where I'm coming from. I believe that Radio Disney is a fine format. But it should be on FM where more kids will find it.
