Bill, no more Ann and Mike Bellamy on WEBE?!

It was very weird today. Ann Rondepierre was off which wasn't unusual except for the fact that Robbie Bridges was doing the traffic report instead of a sub. That was one thing. Okay, one person being off doesn't raise any red flags. But then at the bottom of the hour when Bellamy usually does his news update there was none today. No Ann Rondepierre and Bellamy on the same day with no subs for either one of them does raise red flags. So you tell me Bill. Are Ann and Mike the latest victims of the economy?

Big blood bath at Cumulus Bridgeport. Rumor has it that Ann and Marylee on the FM and Tim Quinn, David Smith and possible Brian Smith are among the casualties of what has been defined as one of possibly two (or more) trim downs.

"Jeez" Hey, John Addeo (Jimmy B.) your a broadcast pro....but you need to get some tapes ready....the next cut CWH makes will probably WICC PM Drive. Be prepared. As CWH would say, "Dig It"!

I'm sure the firings came as a corporate mandate and not from the local level, considering the extensive bloodbath that occurred with Clear Channel stations in recent days. I wouldn't be surprised if other radio groups follow suit and lighten their expenditures as far as personnel goes.

The days of Mom and Pop radio is pretty much gone, thanks to deregulation. If stations were locally owned and operated I bet there would have been much less people losing their positions. To the suits in Atlanta the staff at their stations are just numbers and not people.
