Bill O'Connell (Ch.5)ret.

Longtime Ch:5/56 sportscaster Bill O'Connell has died in Fl as reported by "BoSportsMedia" (No available obit).

After having a heart attack in the 80's --if I'm remembering correctly-- O'Connell shifted his broadcasting talent to WPLM/99.1 doing overnights for the FM which I think at the time had a big bands format. He had some deep pipes and sounded good.

Found the Boston Globe obituary, which says he passed Feb.25th in Florida at the age of 81.

After his TV sports anchor/reporter gigs at both Channel 5's, WNEV-7 and WLVI-56 when they brought back news in 1984, he moved to radio, first at WFCC Chatham and then WPLM. I also recall his hosting "Candlepin Super Bowl", the half hour team doubles show that aired after the Don Gillis "Candlepin Bowling" hour on Channel 5.

May he rest in peace.
