BILL OLOUGHLIN BLAST WBEN

So I caught some of Bill's show on Friday while driving around the city in between appointments.

He sharply criticized WBEN's morning show, saying "those people have no idea what they are doing over there. I know because I used to have a show on that station."

He also referenced Tom Bauerle by name, saying that if he was in charge of Entercom Buffalo he would "shove the microphone right down his throat."

So Bill is making quite clear he is THE personality in the morning on WECK and he's targeting John Zach and Susan Rose and Bauerle in the local radio war that is definitely getting personal as the battle has begun between Brad K. Riter and Tim Wenger/Andy Roth.

If a seedling falls in the forest, and there's nobody there to hear it, does it still make a noise?

Sir Rox..... Yes and no.. does that help? ;)

Because they're doing an informational, news-oriented morning show?

Actually, that's just what they should be doing in that daypart, there's plenty of time the rest of the day to do opinion and conversation shows. Zach and Rose are pros. (John Zach's been at it since he arrived at KB over 40 years ago.)

I like John Zach, but he's a newsman, not a morning host. He's had some awful moments. But 'BEN sounds like a network show compared to WECK. Tom & Lorraine are unlistenable.

It's a shame how WECK and O'Loughlin are handling this "manifesto". The constant commercials ragging on Bauerle and WBEN's morning show are foolish and just in bad taste.

The WBEN morning show one is the worst. Pointing out that it's not enjoyable when it's not even trying to be. Then telling me that Tom & Loraine are enjoyable. HA! They mix like oil and water.

Tom and Lorraine are trying - you can tell that Tom in particular is really making an effort to make it an informative and entertaining show - but it just isn't working.

Brad should think about moving himself to the morning show and consider using Lorraine somewhere else. Keep Tom on as the straight-up news guy and utilize his production skills and consider using him in other roles for weekend work and remotes.

John and Susan don't blow anyone anyway but they do get the job done. Solid and steady... and that's what will win the race in this so-called "battle" that really finds WECK nowhere near contending for most of WBEN's listeners between 5 and 9 am.
