The Fox News Channel announces that Bill O'Reilly is going to shutdown his radio show ,"The Radio Factor," in the first quarter of next year .

Can't say I'm sorry to hear that. When it used to be on WTKK I found it to be mind-numbing. I couldn't believe that they kept it on their schedule as long as they did.

Somewhere Rush Limbaugh is smiling.

Really I'm surprised he lasted this long. I thought he'd be quickly bored without the visuals that go along with his act.

If you get Tom Taylor's daily radio-info.com column, you saw that while BOR had an impressive number
of affiliates, he wasn't necessarily on the top stations, or live...as Taylor noted, "Rush and Hannity and a few other talkers have had key dayparts sewn up for years."

While I certainly don't agree with Bill O'Reilly on his politics, I do have more respect for the man than the hysterical right wingers we are left with on the radio (Michael medved and Jay Severin). O'Reilly compares as a gentleman in comparison to what remains.

I really don't lump O'Reilly in with Rush and Hannity.

Although he is right of center, he is soft right as opposed to Rush and Hannity who are so drenched in right-wing Kool-Aid that they are (to me) cartoon characters who simply yell and scream about how every problem in the world is the cause of Liberalism, and they rarely--if ever--beat up a corrupt conservative politician with anywhere near the intensity that they do when a Liberal gets in trouble.

Its not like they have not had any opportunity:

O'Reilly generally beats up both sides, but IMO goes overboard on this whole Culture War thing and the mountain out of a molehill business of people wanting to "eliminate Christmas" from the American scene. Like I care whether or not some department store says "Merry Christmas" while they try to sell me something. As far a Culture War goes, yes the extreme left is nuts, but so is the extreme right (Bob Jones University, people who try to force Christianity down my throat, etc), But he does not give those people 1/10 of the time he does some pot shop in San Francisco.
