Bill Press - From WHERE?

Keith, if you're not sleeping continuously the next two days after your long week :) Or anyone else who knows...

Who syndicates Bill Press' new show, which premieres Monday on the station now known as "Radio Free Ohio" (WTOU-to-WARF/1350)?

I've searched all over for the answer, and can't find it.

Bill's on the Board of Advisors for Democracy Radio, the organization behind Ed Schultz's show and Stephanie Miller's show. But the DR website does not mention them producing or offering his show.

There are even some, on the News/Talk board here, who think Bill will be *local* for 1350. Could that POSSIBLY be? Could a former CNN and MSNBC host and Los Angeles radio veteran be doing a local show in Akron, Ohio?

Bill's own website does not mention anything about radio, aside from his fill-in appearances this week on KGO in San Francisco. (For those interested, he's doing it again Thursday and Friday.)

Any answer to this question would appreciated...

Worldwide TV superstar Jerry Springer was doing, just four months ago, a local midday show for a startup station in Cincinnati. Granted, he's from there, but by that local, Bill Gates should do an afternoon show in Seattle. Perhaps Press is using this as the first station of several on CC libtalkers.

BTW, when did Press move back to CA from NYC? His new show will have him up at 12:30am...

Bill Press - The Answer

When you have a question, turn to the source...which I did. I E-Mailed Mr. Press via his website.

He says the show is syndicated by Jones, and will also air on Sirius Satellite Radio. (I assume he'll take the 6-9 AM slot on that service's "Sirius Left" channel 143, currently occupied by Doug Stephan.)

He didn't indicate if the show was in the Democracy Radio joint venture with Jones.

A recent column of his would indicate he is actually in Washington, DC these days. I didn't catch when he moved from California.

Bill was formerly the co-host of ABC O&O WMAL/630's AMD show from 2002-2003. WMAL tried to emulate sister station WABC-AM's "Curtis & Kuby" down in the beltway by pairing Bill with longtime host Andy Parks and conservatalker Jane Norris. It didn't take - WMAL released both after less than a year.

I guess Bill's stayed in DC ever since - did MSNBC's "Buchanan & Press" originate from Washington?

Ah, thanks for the refresher course. I'd been reminded of the show when DCRTV picked up the Press news item.

And really, the problem with that show was basically Ms. Norris (ex-WHAS/Louisville talker). Where did she end up? I listened once or twice via the Internet when she was there, and it was, well, *bizarre*. She seemed horribly out of place, defensive and just not very good.

Beats me. I'm not one of the 10 people who watch MSNBC regularly. ;)
