Bill Press/Majic 102.7

I've been hearing promos on Majic 102.7 for Tom Kent's 70's show in one of Bill Press's timeslot. In checking Majic's website, I see Bill is no longer listed. For a station that virtually never changes on-air talent, this makes two moves in just a few weeks. I listed to Bill Press for years and I'm sure he was on the air at Majic even when I lived in S Fla.

Anyone know what happened to Bill? I guess it's the nature of things but Bill, in case you read this, thanks for lots of "weekend company" - I enjoyed listening to you!

This isn't the end of changes. I hear Mindy Lang is disgusted about recent events and wants to leave pronto.

Isn't it time you stopped using the name of a real talent and programmer as your screen name? I'm pretty sure the real Bill has little interest in Majic and in Bruce Kelly... about all you post about.

Is is not also time for you to stop thinking you run every board on this system Mr. GLEASON !?!?!?! You are not the moderator, only a "contributor". Your hubris and arrogance are only matched by your ignorance.

As I said, "when are you going to stop appropriating the name of another real person?"

Were I the moderatore, I woud have requested you change the name. As a user, all I can do is appeal to your sense of propriety and ethics, and that seems not to have worked.

By the way, your writing and punctuation style needs to improve substantially to come even close to the magnificent usage of the language employed by Bill Tanner.

I don't know if it's any of my business to step in here, but because of his punctuation style and use of the language like you, Mr. Eduardo, I've never for an instant confused him with anyone else who might coincidentally have the same name. It's just a username on a message board. billtanner on the Miami board is who he is to me, no more, no less.

There are some other users on here who use famous names, probably of others, but who am I to tell them to stop using it? In your opinion, do you think that I have any justification to tell someone else what name to use? If so, I'd like to hear about this great new authority!

I think that the use of the name of one of the market's all-time most successful programmers and talents on that market's board is not appropriate. It demeans the poster, though, so if he wants to continue to do infantile things, that is his problem now.

Bill Press and his wife are moving to Denver, where she is from. And I AM the real Fred Savage. Miami radio facinates me and I'm in love with Winnie Cooper.

Thank you Fred for answering my question, it is appreciated.

Often subject posts go off topic but in this case, David Eduardo's comments were appropriate. David, in my humble opinion, is a sharp guy. I have disagreed at times with him but often it had more to do with not wanting to hear the reality of things especially when it comes to the subject of oldies formats. David is the Joe Friday of radio as he just gives the facts without all the emotion.

Bill Tanner will forever be one of my radio heroes. All I will add here is his abilities, knowledge and opinions should not be diminished by childish little games that can be played on this board.

Again, best of luck Bill. Those thoughts of a Denver winter compared to South Florida make me want to scratch my head but in the end it's all about personal choice, isn't it?

I'll be in South Florida this week and I'm sure I'll enjoy tuning around the dial. I know I have former home town prejudice but S Fla is just about the best radio market around in my book.

I'm curious to know more about Mindy..and if it's indeed true. I've listened to her since Blue Suede Radio 98 Gold, and she's defended alot of the things "Hammy" has said/done before. So I wonder just how "fed up" she is.

I remember she wasn't thrilled..or let it seem that way when they parted with Ken Held.

Mindy was responsible for bringing Bruce to MAJIC and was on the air with him the day he was let go. She had no idea about the decision. And Hamilton had no say in it eitherbut kept it from her. Many in this building are still questioning especially after the results of the book and the upcoming trend.

How would you know the results of an upcoming trend?

Mindy Lang is a mainstay at Majic 102, I think she is in management. She is there for the long run.
At least we hope she is. She is one of the pioneers of radio here.

Thanks for the nice comments, John. It was tough leaving Majic after 12 years... the staff there was/is like family. But life called us to Colorado... I can't wait for winter! (Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!)

'Hoping to hook up to a station here in Denver. Super 70's Sunday Night had a real good following... the ratings were fantastic.

Thanks again!
