Mr. William “Bill” Robinson Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Bill Robinson will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Webb Funeral Home Chapel, 1:30 p.m., with Rev. Jerry Griffin officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Bonita Baptist Church Cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Robinson, age 61, of Meridian, passed away on July 21, 2013 at Rush Foundation Hospital. Bill was a long time employee of WTOK as an electronics engineer and he had also worked for WOKK, WDAL, and WMOX radio stations. He was an avid HAM radio enthusiast and enjoyed talking with his friends with the Lauderdale County HAM radio Association. He was a member of the Air National Guard #238 Mobile Communication Flight.
He is survived by his Brothers, Mike Robinson (Debra) of Tuscaloosa, AL and Russell Robinson of Daphne, AL; Uncle, Royce Robinson of Meridian, MS; Aunt, Beth Goodman (Oscar) of Holly Bluff, MS; Nephews, Christopher Robinson (Lisa) of Enterprise, MS, Kevin Robinson (Teri) of Lauderdale, MS, Joshua Robinson of Meridian, MS, and Dustin Abston of Tuscaloosa, AL; Niece, Lori Abston of Tuscaloosa, AL; and by numerous cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, William Robinson Sr. and Ernestine Ziegenbalg Robinson.
Pallbearers are Chris Robinson, Kevin Robinson, Joshua Robinson, Dustin Abston, James Arrington, and Phil Thrash.
Honorary Pallbearers are Members of the Lauderdale County HAM Radio Association.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Webb Funeral Home from 5 – 7 pm.

On a personal note I worked with Bill in '74 & '75 as he was doing split shift air work (1/2 WOKK and 1/2 WALT) while also doing the grunt work for the late Bob Wall. You never had to worry about the Meter Logs being in order or the 19 Khz Pilot Injection being checked when Bill was in the studio. Bill was also a member of the MHS Class of 1970, same as my wife. Sad to say that Bill took a lot of the late 60's-early 70's Meridian radio history with him. I always loved to hear him talk about those days. He was most certainly one of the good guys in this business.
