I was a big fan of Mike West in his pre-KMTT days, but the Fisher and West show leaves me cold for some reason. Seems to be an awful lot of name dropping and smug discussion of how fabulous their lives are. Is it just me?

...kinda sad when you aspire to work for less than the best station in the market.

Mike West on KIRO

I think he would be a great choice. He's local, a name in the market and may actually drive a few younger listeners to KIRO. Of course for KIRO that would be anyone under 55. But I'm sure that the stodgey people at KIRO wouldn't tolerate it.

Didn't KIRO have Bob Rivers on a few times back when the show was still at KISW?

Oh, that's right. Different "stodgey people" were in charge back then. And the ratings were a LOT better.

BASEBALL made the ratings better..

Re: Mike West on KIRO

Yeah, the ratings were better but it was a different time. I'm not saying KIRO needs to be totally revamped but it does need a tune up. It's programming elements and staff seem to be a few steps behind the times. The voice guy sounds dated. The imaging is non-existent. And virtually everyone talks like they have a stick up their butts. Their personalities aren't allowed to be personable.

Quick. When do they do traffic? Sports? Money? Outside of Bill and Manda, KOMO maybe boring but it hammers home its services and its elements so much better than KIRO. Listerners know when they get those things on KOMO. From congressional elections to firings to eliminating the afternoon and 12 o'clock news, listeners don't know when anything is on KIRO. KIRO = zero branding.

Agreed, the majority of KOMO's success is with baseball. But it shows that baseball has been boosting a boring KIRO news and talk product for years.

Jane and Greg are not relatable. She sounds like she'd rather be anywhere else, and he sounds arrogant. If management got rid of both of them, nobody would care. Mike West is great.

Interesting rundown on Mike's career. I remember listening to those "Leave It To Beaver" bits back in the day.<P ID="signature">______________
