Bill Wills

Just a note for those who remember Bill Wills when he was at WLW. I just spent a few days in Cleveland (sucks in the winter) and he's doing the morning show on 1100 WTAM the big news-talker there. Also caught him doing live-from-the-studio breaks on the Cleveland FOX t.v. affiliate. He sounds as smooth and great as ever. I only met him once and remember him as a really pleasant and professional guy. J.C. Coy would also appreciate the fact the WTAM does "Skychief Traffic"!

I think many people know that WTAM may be received in the Cincinnati area basically before sunrise and after sunset and the station is also available on-line except when they are airing sports.

I preferred listening to Bill Wills over Jim Scott when he did mornings for awhile at WLW.
Didn't Bill Wills do just part of the morning show, like 8:30 AM-9AM for awhile? I never remember him doing the morning show with, or for, Jim Scott...the only co-host I ever remember Scott having would be Kathy Lare (SP?) briefly back in 1998 when Cunningham took over as PD.

When Jim Scott left WLW in 1994 for WINK, Bill took over the morning show. He and Dave Martin (the manager of WLW) low-balled Jim when his contract was up, figuring where else did he have to go? Jim found someplace else to go and Bill, who at an earlier time actually WANTED the morning show, was put into it after some resistance. At this point, he preferred management.

Jim's first day on WINK was the day that it was announced Jacor had bought it. Obviously, they wanted him back on the Big One, but Jim had a solid deal for WINK. To get him to sign, they had to settled on a lot of Jim-favorable language.

If I remember correctly, Jim Scott was on WWNK for roughly two years. He returned to WLW and was on the air from 5 AM to 8:30 AM. Bill Wills was on from 8:30 AM to 10 AM. I don't think that arrangement lasted very long.

Kathy Lehr was news director before she was paired with Jim Scott in the mornings. I think that lasted less than a year. Isn't Kathy now a PIO for a school district (maybe in Clermont County)?

I may be wrong but I don't remember Jim being on WWNK. I thought he was the morning man on WYYS Yes 95. Or am I thinking about someone else.

Actually it was Great American/Citicasters who owned WWNK at that time, which Jacor bought out Nationwide never owned anything in Cincinnati.

Jim was at YES 95 from 1981 until maybe the beginning of 1984. He started at 700 WLW in March of 1984. And yes, he was at WWNK for about 2 years.
