If you were around Eastern NC from the 70s and into the mid 1980s, you may remember Bill Wyatt from WFTC in Kinston. Bill passed away last week and his obituary is below. I worked briefly with Bill at WFTC and will always remember his curiosity about local happenings and his willingness to welcome me aboard after competing against him.

William Wayne "Bill" Wyatt
KINSTON - William Wayne "Bill" Wyatt 63, died Monday, February 23, 2008 at Lenoir Memorial Hospital. Bill was a member of Richard Caswell Masonic Lodge and Kinston Police Dept. where he served as police planner-records division. Prior to his police work he worked for HGR Broadcasting and was the manager of WFTC Radio Station. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Edwards Funeral Home, 702 N. Queen St. Kinston, N.C. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2009, at 3 p.m. at the McLaw-horn-McGlohon Family Cemetery located in Manchester Subdivision on Forlines Road, Winterville, N.C. with the Rev. Annell George-McLawhorn officiating. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Lorena Moseley Wyatt of the home; his daughter, Megan Wyatt of Greensboro, N.C.; and sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Waters and husband Alan, of Conover, N.C., a niece, Christine, "Christy" B. Costillo of Durham, N.C.; and a nephew, Bryan Ben-nett of Greensboro, N.C.
