Bill Young's Latest Project

I am placing my order, today. I am looking forward to reading it. Hey everyone, this is a 'must-read!'

I placed my order the other night when I got the E-mail from Bill. Really looking forward to it!

The book is a must read. Houston radio magically touched all of radio through the energy and influence of KILT and many of us benefited from Bill's leadership.
He knows talent. He respects talent. He inspires talent. But he also knew about product, consistency and a steady hand in motivating talent and letting them soar. If you remember the early 70s KILT sat there with 16 MINUTES of commercials an hour and was always sold out. KRBE came along with a limit less than half that, and were never sold out, so they pounded lots of music. But the personality, entertainment value and lifestyle that KILT had carved into that market was so strong that it was years and years before decline started. And like a heroin addict who can't cut back, the genuises at LIN broadcasting were addicted to the money train KILT was.
I can't think of a programmer in the country who could have endured the ride caught in a world of fun/professionalism and a station generating millions.
In typical Bill Young fashion, the book talks about the good memories with entertaining stories...he doesn't pass blame...he praises people who as employees felt like they were the luckiest people on earth and without taking all the credit it's HIM who sounds like the luckiest guy on earth working with all that talent. The book not only talks about the way it was, but without preaching or lecturing prepares everybody in the business for the changes that come in life.
People used to think Bill Young was out hunting or fishing all day, but he worked hard and in a new career worked harder than ever. Good teachers are always teaching. And this teacher is still teaching. Well worth getting 2 copies because you'll think of several you wish would read it. And no I'm not Bill Young. He'd never toot his own horn like this.
