Billboard Dance Recaps for 2011

That top link made me VERY happy :)

I really think, if "corporate" can finally admit and reallize, that dance music/EDM will be the "format" to watch for radio as a whole. And I really think it has to be "cutting edge" this time around if you're going to get the young people to remove their earbuds off their digital media players to tune in. You can't fully sound "commercial" with it (though you place some aspects of it in there).

I really think 2012 can be OUR year. We all keep pushing for it, but I really think this is our time :)

See what happens when you are patient? They played some dubstep on Monday night football last night. The music culture is changing, but the question is, will the culture change so much many of you on here will not like it?

I am not the biggest fan of the person that wrote this article and to not get a quote from Guetta, Avicii or really any of the names that are breaking through?

Dance music is going to become a big paint party

And that is a damn good question.

Dubstep is the big argument there. I think those of us that are older have that "dislike" for it but for the younger crowd, this is THEIR sound. This is the sound of "rebellion" for them, just like progressive rock was the "rebellion" sound of the late 60's, punk rock in the late 70's, hip-hop in the 90's, and we cannot ignore that.

I've brought this up elsewhere but I really think ALTERNATIVE ROCK stations should get on dubstep RIGHT NOW! In a backhanded sort of way, that could help things grow for the other dance music genres.

Admittedly I am "middle of the road". I'm not into the sound of dubstep, but then again I also acknowledge it's not about ME, but about the teen/college age generation that love it. Because of that I cannot, nor am I willing to, ignore the impact of it :)
