Billboard Magazine celebrates "The Lost 45s" 25th!

Great interview, nice to see you got some (well deserved) national publicity.

Now if only some stations outside outside the Boston market would pick the show up again.. or even Sirius/XM

Thanks...I don't expect terrestrial syndication suppliers to wake up and be exciting again any time soon, unfortunately. They are probably in a room right now creating another countdown show!

Barry you got to admit, some songs were not "lost" they were put away for a reason.

(says the man with all 26 volumes of " Have A Nice Day" from Rhino Records on his hard drive)

I will admit no such thing! Way back when the now defunct WBCN ran promo's against "The Lost 45s" show saying the same thing and we went to #1 in the ratings. I have always thanked them for doing that!

Any song that was a part of someone's childhood or formative years, should always be available somewhere on a station that says they play the hits from that era. Otherwise, that station is lying and listeners sure know it!

All Billboard articles are now posted here: http://lost45.com/articles.php

Even if there are no current syndication efforts, you have to admit, two straight days of pub on the website of the "bible" of the record industry makes it all worth the 25 years of work. Way to go.

(I wonder if a similar article will be written about "The Cellar" about 23 years from now... ::) )

"Two straight days of pub on the website of the "bible" of the record industry makes it all worth the 25 years of work."

Using knowledge acrued since age 5, having fan loyalty and getting to do a job that I love every day: Priceless.

"Blind Man in the Bleachers" (Last Game of the Season) was a Top 20 hit. Follow-up to David Geddes' Top 10 "Run Joey Run" (recently performed by the "Glee" cast and re-charted, showing the durability of story songs). Songs that actually told stories and summoned an emotion are totally non-existant on pop radio now. You might need Country radio for that. These tunes strike a chord with adults who enjoyed them as kids and their kids who are discovering them for the first time.

Oh, and that one is based on a real, true story (not "Joey", the other one!).

Congrats Barry! That's one heckuva run man, oh and thanks for playing "Looking Glass' JImmy Loves Mary Anne" a lost classic!!

Even the singer/songwriter of Looking Glass (Elliot Lurie) has said that "Jimmy Loves Maryann" is a better song and yet we are 'Brandied' to death. Love playing the second Top 40 hit in this case! Thanks!
