"BILLY BUSH SHOW" on Q100 this week (structure?.....anyone?)

So, I'm listening to Billy Bush, evenings on Q100 this week. Can't seem to understand the structure of his show. I turned it on a few mins after 10pm and just the same old Q music and between songs, I would only hear a pre-recorded track of Billy Bush promoting the Bert Show, Adam Bomb, etc....this went on for over half an hour! I kept thinking.......where the heck is the ACTUAL Billy Bush "show"???

Then I heard him interviewing Pink the other night for about 10 minutes and then it seemed to just go into MORE Q-100 promos, commercials, then right back into same old Q's music....and tracks of B.B.'s voice saying ..."Q-100".....(?!?!?) So, my questions are.....

Is there a satellite feed with a million holes of dead air where Q inserts there own junk? (LOL)

Is the whole thing tracked and sent to stations in "puzzle pieces" and then fit them around that station's own format? (hehe)

(okay you can tell I've never done radio)

But this is what it sounded like to me. What I was hoping is we'd turn on Billy Bush and for 4 hours, we'd hear a LIVE SOUNDING show with maybe a a song or two NOT heard on Q100.....

........guess I was thinking Billy Bush would be more.....Open House Party-esque (just with lots more interviews.

Any thoughts?

I can't believe it took 4 days for the first post about the Billy Bush Radio Show on Q100 to take place. My impression is it is boring and doesn't belong on a station like Q100. Why bring in this show in the evenings on weeknights? If anything, it isn't interesting enough to keep listeners listening (I know it is only the first week, but like it can improve that much) and might see their evening numbers decrease and Star 94 might actually benefit.

The only thing saving Q100 with this decision is that they still play songs from their playlist, but why waste money on this syndicated show when local and live was fine???

There are shows (like Delilah on B98.5) that are sat-fed, the syndicator controls the music, and equipment at the station inserts local liners.

There are also shows (like Billy Bush) that use MP3 delivery, can integrate with the station's automation system, and as such can be scheduled with the music on the local stations hard drive. No satellite equipment is needed, and affilates can schedule the show anytime and are not restricted to the format clock.

More and more shows will go to the latter. Live content can be streamed via IP protcols (the internet for those technically challenged), and MP3's and other formats can be used for prerecorded content. Using internet delivery is much cheaper than using satellites. (I belive Delilah has started delivering her show this way - although I don't know which way B98.5 is recieving it).

Ok.. what some of you don't know... Billy Bush IS syndicated. He IS over satellite. HOWEVER, his show that is live has Hot AC music in it. This is why Q100 isn't running the live feed. I work in the same building as a cumulus station that is airing the show. The only time they will run the "prerecorded" Bush is when they are running their "Totally 80s Weekend" starting at 5pm on Fridays, in which they have prerecorded Bush with 80s in the middle of it.
