Billy Madison

I've been listening to Billy Madison in Tulsa this past week. I'm not impressed. I haven't heard anything that I feel is creative, but I have heard a lot of language that used to be considered inappropriate in my younger days.

I tried to give the show a chance, but I won't donate any more of my time to see if it will happen. Am I the only one that feels this way?

There seem to be a lot of (younger) listeners who really dig what he does... I'm not convinced the demo does, but time and Arbitron will tell. I'm not personally a fan, but I'm one out of...?

Billy is a friend of mine. Obviously, I'm biased.

If you don't hear the humor, it may be that he's simply not aiming it at you. He's not doing Bob Newhart, George Carlin, or Buddy Hackett stuff. I think he and the show are hilarious. And he's not just funny, but he also does a great job of entertaining and engaging the audience. If you listen, he's the Voice of Reason on the show, managing the chaos.

I don't listen to Billy every day--I'm usually listening to the show that I appear on, on a sister station. But when I do listen, I find myself laughing more often than not.

Billy is very talented.

I do, however, think the show is garbage. His true genius and creativity has taken a nosedive since he left Tulsa the first time. The show is full of fake phone calls, poorly executed bits, and really nothing you can't hear on any number of stations.

The sad part is that Billy is better than his show is...and Billy knows it.

The show is definitely different from what was before. I know Andy was a market legend but something needed to be done. BMS sounds a heck of a lot better than Corbin and Biggie on KMOD. I'm not sure about that situation.

Seems that Rock has em a bit nervous @ KMOD and I think the station sounds pretty solid too. I only get to catch some here and there in the afternoon. The am show often.

I love Billy, he is great. If you do not like a Howard Stern type show that is a bit dirty sometimes it is not for you. :p

The big problem: Madison's act is not a good match with the format the rest of the day. Star 103 made some music changes but stayed essentially the same...an over-35 station. Madison's act has to be dominantly male, maybe 40 tops in reach. Any female audience he has will be very young. 103.3 tanked in the winter ratings. But it must have been a lot cheaper to add his syndication than have an adult morning show live and local.
