Binghamton Reunion Attendance Update and Information

The Binghamton Broadcasters Reunion is an informal get-together, that happens annually, every other year. All are welcome.

Next week, we will be announcing the winner of the Living Legend Award, along with some of the Special Achievement Award winners.

We have already announced that Steve Craig has been named Broadcaster of the Year.

Lots more details on the website.

Here is a preview of some people who are planning to attend. We're still waiting for confirmation from others who have indicated they will be on hand.

Joining us for the dinner and the program, in a non-performing role, will be musician and singer Gary Lewis, of Gary Lewis and the Playboys, and son of comedian Jerry Lewis.

Gary Lewis has had a number of Top 40 hits during his career, and seven Top 10 singles.

The Southern Tier Broadcasters Association and the Bundy, will be awarding Gary Lewis the 2011 Special Contributor Award. Previous winners of this award have been Dick Clark, and Chubby Checker. Checker was a guest at the 2007 Reunion.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Also confirmed as attending, will be Endicott native and legendary disc jockey, Dick Biondi.

Biondi grew up and worked in the Binghamton Radio Market. Dick later went on to be a part of WKBW in Buffalo, WLS in Chicago, WCFL in Chicago, WBZ Boston, WSAI Cincinnati, KRLA in Los Angeles and more.

Dick also had a syndicated Top 40 Show on Mutual, with over 126 affiliates.

Biondi is credited with being the first DJ to play a Beatles record in the United States.

He is a member of the Radio Hall and Fame, along with many other awards.

Dick is still on the air, weeknights, playing oldies at WLS-FM in Chicago.

Dick Biondi will be on hand hang out with us at the reunion and to accept the his induction into the Southern Tier Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame.

+++++++++++++++++++++

Also attending will be Jeff Laurence, who played the hits at WENE, WTKO in Ithaca, WOLF in Syracuse and in Tampa Bay. Jeff is a nationally known voice over guy with over radio 100 clients. He has been the voice of Wendy's, NutriSystems and more.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Of course, local favorites are scheduled to attend, including Bill Parker, Roger Neel, Big Al Brock, Rita French, Bill Flynn, Tom Shiptenko and the winner of the Broadcaster of the Year Award, Steve Craig.

Scott Fyrbish of North East Radio Watch and fybush.com, will be on hand with his latest Tower Calendar.

Chris Onan of Broadcast Electronics will be in attendance, along with representatives of the Society of Broadcast Engineers, Chapter 1, the Founding Chapter, which was established on Charlie Halinan's kitchen table in Binghamton.

A complete list of attendees so far is on the website, www.binghamtonbroadcastersreunion.com, and follows at the end of this e-mail.

The Reunion is a free and informal event, open to all current and former Binghamton Broadcasters. Nothing fancy.

The event will include with an optional buffet to open the evening, a cocktail hour time for visits with other broadcasters and then to close out the evening the awards program.

Choose one or all.

If you're planning to attend, drop an e-mail to rayross@yahoo,com, and we'll get you on the list. If you are planning to participate in the buffet, please let us know as soon as possible, as the hotel needs a head count.

Buffets should be paid in advance, as soon as you can.

Cost is $21.95 per person. Make checks payable to Ray Ross/Binghamton Reunion, PO Box 303, Endicott, NY 13760.

We will have a limited number of walk-ups the night of the event.

++++++++++++++++++++++++

Here is an alphabetized list of people planning to
attend. If you're planning on being at the reunion this
year (no committment necessary), drop an e-mail
to [email protected]. We will update
this list frequently.

Please keep in mind that everyone on this list has
confirmed their attendance by e-mail or in person,
but things happen. Our cancellations and
no-shows have been few and far between, but drop
a note to [email protected], if you need to confirm
that a specific person will be attending. We'll do our best
to hook you up with that person.

By the same token, if you are on the list and find
that you are unable to attend, let us know, and we
will update the website.
