Birmingham Arbitrends

Mostly everybody up this period. All the Cox stations are down, though, with the exception of WBPT and WNCB (which had some of its highest numbers ever ...can it be?). WDXB closes the gap with 'ZZK, but still behind Birmingham's legendary country FM. The new WERC-FM is up slightly with its new talk format; WAPI is still running behind both WERC-AM and FM. Desite the fact Birmingham has too many talk stations, is the time ripe for Citadel to introduce a talk WAPI-FM to compete with 'ERC more effecitvely? "Jox" continues to do well, as usual. "Live" is up once again, probably inheriting some of the former "Vulcan" listeners.
And the ones who didn't fare so well: Cox's WENN-AM doesn't even show up in the book, no big surprise there. ::)
And of course, WYDE AM and FM are back down again, albeit slightly. The WYDE combo didn't even pull a 1 share. The newly-reborn "Source" format is a disaster, and is just a shadow of its former existence. Wonder if/when Crawford will get the hint and finally yank the talk programming off of there? ::)

Birmingham Radio Ratings

[EDIT-unauthorized promotion]

Apparently, Vulcan's past ratings are in the WERC-FM row. I don't see WVVB being listed, and WENN-FM (the first call letters Vulcan went by) doesn't have anything other than dashes listed. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm just trying to make sense of this report.

I think the next ratings report will finally confirm where those former Vulcan listeners ended up at (either Live 100.5 or Rock 99.5) and if they continue to stay there. The new ratings column goes from May-July and the Vulcan flip happened in July, not in May.
