Birmingham Nielsens for December 2023

WBHJ "95.7 Jamz" replaces sister station WBHK "98.7 KISS" for the #1 position. Seems as though this flip-flop between WBHJ and WBHK for the #1 position occurred a few ratings periods back as well, but "Kiss" has remained #1 for the most part since the WBHJ/WBHK combo debuted in July, 1996.

Santa was good to WMJJ as usual. WUHT "Hot 107.7" continues upward. WZZK-FM does as well. And, of course, as expected, WPYA's format change from hot AC to CHR last September doesn't improve the station's fortunes, as their numbers continue to circle the drain. I still hold to my opinion that SummitMedia should sell off WPYA to a noncommercial operator such as EMF, as the station has never done well with any format they've had since coming on the air in 1998.

Here are the numbers for December 2023:

My ideas for 97.3 FM are:

Bring back Y'all FM or do a WAGG AM Gospel type format.

But...What do I know. I'm just a simpleton trying to run a LPFM radio station, in Selma Alabama. Am I allowed to make these suggestions? :ROFLMAO:

Would a classic hits or a Jack-like format work on WPYA?

I would think that might be a possibility, as there is a classic hits format hole on local FM. SummitMedia does have a background doing classic hits in other markets (under the "Awesome" branding"), but they have shelved the format on some of their stations recently, so who knows?
