Birmingham trends (winter pt. 1)

I posted the top 20:

1. WBHK-FM (up)
2. WBHJ-FM (down)
3. WMJJ-FM (up)
4. WZZK-FM (up)
5. WDXB-FM (up)
6. WENN-FM (flat)
7. WQEN-FM (down)
8. WBPT-FM (up)
9. WYSF-FM (down)
10. WZRR-FM (down)
11. WDJC-FM (down)
12. WAGG-AM (down)
13. WRAX-FM (up)
14. WERC-AM (up)
15. WUHT-FM (down)
16. WAPI-AM (up)
17. WYDE-FM (down)
18. WJOX-AM (down)
19. WNCB-FM (flat)
20. WATV-AM (down)

Looks like WBPT's decision to drop 80s for classic rock is working as 106.9 has posted its best numbers in quite a while. WRAX adding more classic alternative also seems to be doing OK out of the gate. If Citadel would change their strategy for WUHT, maybe they could have a good thing going. But the sound they have will not work. It may work in small markets, but not in bigger ones. They've been on a steady decline since last summer. I don't think Citadel should bail out on this yet, but they seriously need to do some major reworking on 107.7. <P ID="signature">______________

I've been saying this for the longest. You see JAMZ is down slightly and that is partly b/c of WUHT. Now if they could capitalize on that weakness, they could have JAMZ on the ropes and be #2 in the market.

I'm on record as liking what I've heard of Hot 107-7...love it's primary focus on newer R&B and 'neo-soul'. But the ratings just aren't good...they've slipped significantly from the nice debut numbers last spring. Adding Steve Harvey can only help, though the station's overall musical sound will probably start to mirror Kiss more.

WMJJ back in the top five? No wonder Doug Hamand is getting promoted to Tampa...

Dude,

Magic, and and any other CC AC that goes all Christmas in December shows a spike in any book/trend that involves December. Take out Dec. and see what the rolling averages are, not top 5.
