Birmingham Winter Numbers

Here's the link to the winter '08 Arbitron numbers for Birmingham. WZZK has overtaken WBHJ for the #2 spot. WAGG is #4.
WSPZ is clinging near the bottom, going from 1.8 to 0.8.

Looks like WAGG is benefiting from WENN dumping Hallelujah for rock. WNCB above a two share? The city of Birmingham should throw a parade!

It's interesting to me to note that slowly but surely, Hot 107.7 has climbed to the #5 station in the market. It's actually Citadel's top rated station in the market.

Speaking of Citadel, how long are they going to let 94.5 stay as it is? A 100kw signal covering the market, and it's only the #15 station in the market? Ouch!

Why is WENN listed as Alternative? Last time I check, they were Modern Rock. This is yet another case of the Modern Rock format being mistakenly called Alternative.

Nice to know that The X didn't die in vain.

Interesting to note that for all of the AM talk and sports stations in the market it's a gospel station with a 5000 watt stick that is the only AM in the top 15.

Next stations to flip format? My thoughts are either the Eagle or the Bull. To what? I have no idea.

I'd wager that the animal stations make good enough money to be left alone.

How WNCB stays untouched (despite the uptick) is a mystery to me--though I suppose it can't cost much to run.

I doubt it costs anything at all to run. A computer is a one time purchase.

Oversimplifying things a bit, you're probably quite accurate. :D
