Birmingham's WZRR 'Vibe 99.5' gets Atlanta's "The Bert Show"

I see they still haven't updated their website under the staff section to show this new morning show yet. It's about time they added one though. Now they just need midday and afternoon jocks. If they actually had good jocks on the air they might be doing much better against The Q. The music is right, and the imaging is good (though it needs to be updated). It continues to amaze me the difference musically this station is compared to the typical Cumulus CHRs with the Jan Jeffries adult leaning and/or heavy recurrent motto. I guess with the slogan "Today's Hottest Music" you can't get away with the typical Cumulus sound though. It still begs the question, if they can do it in Birmingham, why not many of their other markets?

If I'm not mistaken Bert is good friends with Ace & TJ. I know they were together a lot at the Bitfest morning show conferences when I was going to them. It will be interesting to see them compete in the same market. Some of the things they do are ideas they got from each other. They both have charities that take kids to Disney - not sure who did it first (maybe another show). I'm not saying the shows are identical - far from it - but with the amount of idea sharing they have done in the past it will make for an interesting local battle. Will the gloves come off or will they both bend over backwards to be respectful of each other? Regardless, Birmingham now has two very talented syndicated morning shows on CHR but no local option.
