Bittner sells WJYE-Gardner Me...."to be customized programmed remotely".

Bob Bittner sells 1280AM in Gardner, Maine.

https://radioinsight.com/headlines/179278/fun-oldies-debuts-in-central-maine/

Interesting point in the article is: "..to feature customized remote programming".

Now with FTP and the internet, this appears to be something done more and more, no?

I get the impression Valley-98.9 (WMXV) in Salem NH is doing something similar. valley989.com

A station that sounds better than it should ;-) and I assume someone is consulting it, and programming it remotely.

Anyone shed some light on "customized remote programming"?

Was WJYE once WKME (back in the '70s)....??
IIRC.....They were an AM/FM facility, running Drake-Chennault's "Hit Parade" format...ID'ing as "WKME/WKME-FM, Gardner/Augusta....."

Wikipedia on WJYE:
" The station first signed on the air on September 1, 1968.Its original call sign was WABK, owned by Abenaki Company. The station had a middle of the road format by 1971.It later moved to a full service adult contemporary sound. An FM sister station, WKME 104.3 FM, was added in 1974.
Two years later, WABK shifted to a Talk/MOR format. In 1977, the station was sold to Tryon Communications, and talk programming was dropped

The entry on WABK FM 104.3:
"WABK first signed on as an AM station, in the fall of 1968.[4] It aired an adult leaning Top 40 format on 1280 kHz (today WJYE). WABK-FM signed on during the summer of 1974 with the call letters WKME and featured Drake-Chenault's automated "Hit Parade" format. In February 1978, the original studios in Farmingdale were destroyed by fire.

"As the stations rebuilt, WKME's call sign was changed to WABK-FM. Both the AM and FM stations began simulcasting an up-tempo full service adult contemporary format with an emphasis on local personalities, news and community involvement. The simulcast ended in 1983 when WABK 1280 changed its format to country music. "

Thanx, raccoonradio.....I NEVER think to use Wikipedia.......Guess I need to catch up with the rest of the world....!:)
