Biz Radio's lease is up on KMNY. Anyone know where they are moving? ???

I believe they are currently going month-to-month with Multi-Cultural radio. Supposedly Frishberg is trying to secure a stick somewhere that's about 50 miles SW of DFW. He and his group doesn't have much money from what I hear. They blew their wad on a cheap Houston daytimer stick. I would put the death watch on them at this point.

No "supposedly" to it. No "SW of DFW" to it.

AHA!!! You were serious, huh?!? KJSA-1120 Mineral Wells has a CP now for a move to 1110 at 20kW daytime only, and it was just modified last week...with one entry for "testing." I know the BizBoys are committed to Fort Worth, God knows why, and the proposed pattern has a lobe that covers most of FW (but none of Dallas.) The new tower looks to be near Alvord, which is way past Decatur and Bridgeport.

I have nothing against FW, but, if you had to choose between serving the business sector in Dallas OR Fort Worth, which would you choose? Honestly, I think it's all a bill of goods sold to Frishberg over a year ago, thanks to a couple of folks that took advantage of Frish's unfamiliarity with, and ignorance of, the DFW market.

Ten years ago I would have said Dallas but Fort Worth is exploding with development and population. Fort Worth is growing... and growing fast whether you like it or not.

The map on Radio Locator shows a more-than-sufficient signal over Dallas and the mid-cities. With the directional pattern, a whole lot more than 20KW is covering Dallas.

That's right, KJSA has received program test authority for their new 20,000 watt rig, not far from the KVCE 1160 site. Unlike KVCE, though, much of their power is directed toward Wichita Falls and Mineral Wells. And they haven't got a prayer for adding any meaningful nighttime coverage. Also unlike the KTON 940 application for 50,000 watts licensed to Lancaster (which hit a major snag with a protest from Citadel's WKY 930 in Oklahoma City) the KJSA application made it through with relative ease. So Frishberg at least made a good decision when he bailed on that one, since it might never happen or would have to be severely scaled back. And I'd agree with the posters above; there's plenty of money people and potential Biz listeners on the west side of the Metroplex, so we'll have to see how this one develops.

Mike is most likely accurate. Again, Frishberg probably ignored his "GM" Brent Clanton's advise. I can't imagine Clanton advising or agreeing with purchasing a signal that covers just Ft Worth, leaving Dallas out. Frishberg is most likely all geeked up about having the 1110 dial spot in both Houston and DFW, and completely ignoring the fact the the DFW is only FW. I only wish I had something I could sell that sucker Frishberg. What an idiot!

Got some old junk in storage you need to get rid of? Offer it to Frishberg, and say it's all 1110 years old. He might bite! ;D

Wow...we have people posting on here with severe cases of ADD and AD/HD (or...maybe they're just an idiot!).

For those of you ignorant about things technical (i.e. directional arrays), I can assure you that this "concentrated" (directional) 20KW will put an excellent signal over Dallas (and all the surrounding bedroom communities).

If you can't understand the attached map and pattern, perhaps broadcasting (or any business related to it) is just not the business you need to be in.

For what it's worth.. I heard 1110 testing a few weeks back. It was loud and clear on my drive from Downtown Dallas to Plano.

Naturally!

KJSA 1110 will be a daytimer, which is just fine for the Market-oriented programming featured on BizRadio. The Alvord tower site has been tested, and performs even better than advertised, including good coverage for Dallas in the high-income/high net-worth zip codes that matter. Not a slap against KMNY, but there are actually pockets in the 1360 nulls that will notice significant, exponential signal improvement from the move to 1110am.

Appreciate the interest and comments from all.

Is KJSA still running 250w, or are they on/testing their 20kw rig? They are coming in strongly in Orange County & have been since about 6:45 this morning.

They're running/testing on the 20KW rig. You pretty sure it was the D/FW 1110 and not the Houston area 1110?
