BizRadio 1320 Off The Air

Anyone know why KXYZ 1320 is off the air this morning? Are they doing maintenance again into the M-F morning drive again? Lightning strike? etc....?

:D :D

Sorry, adguy, but he definitely has KXYZ pinpointed.

Fortunately, the only two listeners got to discuss it

I don't think that is fair. ::)

You are probably right, at least five people noticed no signal. BizRadio had everything going for it, but Frishberg turned it into a "snakeoil" station and lost some very good peorple on air. KXYZ became a joke of a Business News-Talk station. They are trying to get the station back to what was planned, but once you lose your listeners it is very difficult to get them back again.

KIKK-AM with it's 250 watts daytime made the ratings when a Business News-Talk station, something that BizRadio has yet to do and likely will not. The hours are too short too catch many of the drive-time crowd or be on the air until they make home.

I have serious doubts that BizRadio will be around after their three year lease runs out in Spring of 2008, unless the station makes a miracle change in programming and extends the hours on the air and extending the time they can lease from Multicultural is doubtful.

I wish them the best, but when you have an egomaniac from New York running the station that knows nothing about radio and the format, you have a disaster on your hands. It is a shame too because Brent Clanton would of had the station in the ratings and on the air from 5am to 8 or 9pm, and nearly all local programming by now if he would have been allowed to do what he was hired for in the first place.

Hey, it's a pretty special feeling when all 8 of their advertisers are specifically talking to me and the other listener. Can you make that claim!

Oh Adguy. Sometimes you are really of the wall,but here's a shock. I am going to agree with you and the other poster. Dan needs to LET GO of the programming and let Brent shape it,mold it and make the final decision before credibility is lost. Owners do not have a concept of what programming is,or what it takes to appeal to an audience. Only advertising is what they are concerened with,but if you don't have listeners,you can't advertise, and if don't have good programming listeners are scarce. The website USED to look great,but its all Dan now. The video when he was on FOX three months ago,his studio shot,and of course his book are the only things visually on there. Yes,there are a few "celebs"on the banner ,which doesn't make much sense,and Brent is not featured. So let Brent run it without question. The dividends will roll in.

I hate to say it after I believe BizRadio has made some positive adjustments, but your analysis (kliff) of the website speaks volumes of who runs it all over there. No question that it is Dan F Radio as much as possible and that's not a good thing. Much less of Frishberg and these bond guys and much more of Clanton, Bursian and thier hidden star Jack Warkenthein will tell the tale of the station's success. Warkenthein has a strong radio presence in his new M-F show. He brings interesting topics and guests. His partner, John Bott, is one of the paid programming bond guys. The unfortunate part of that show is when Bott mentions the words derivative or inverted yield curves you can hear fingers going for the channel changer at a rapid pace. IT'S BORING! I know it's important investment info, but it makes for BAD RADIO. They should keep Jack W. and dump Bott. Jack Burusian is good for talking investments and much clearer than the mumbling, bumbling Frishberg. Good Luck and keep it turning BizRadio.

They have a "nailed up" 64 kbs line from studio to transmitter. It went out the day in question. No feed from studio to transmitter until SW Bell got it back up and running.

Thats an MRBI problem not Bizradio. MRBI seems to have that problem constantly with their stations. Houston is not alone.
