Hello? Hello? Is this thing on? Is there anybody there in Houston? Where's all the houston chatters (none in other threads either)?
Alive and well - and listening to satellite / streaming.
As far as Houston discussion - you get royally flamed if you:
- say anything against the current format of 101.1, you are lucky if you don't get called a racist by suggesting it was wrong to flip a heritage rock station.
- say that KSBJ is out of touch with younger listeners with its praise and worship format. Suggest it is praise and worship instead of CCM and you end up getting insulted on the religion board for trying to refine CCM
- say anything in support of the oldies format, or against "the Eagle". You get ratings flung in your face and a bunch of stats on how oldies doesn't rate well, you should only call the format "classic hits" never oldies - take your pick of insults.
And there are half a dozen other topics that merit serious discussion, but if you bring them up, you will get flamed. Time to move on to another board here where respect for posters might actually still exist. Houston radio? Started downhill when KILT 610 flipped to country music 30 years ago. The only bright spot is legacy KRBE - still an influential station, still fun to listen to. The plethora of talk, sports, Spanish language, KRBE wannbes, classic rockers with 400 song playlists, and other assorted junk leaves little to listen to other than satellite or streaming.
Long live oldies! Long live REAL CCM! Long live REAL classic rock! Long live KLOL - the rock station! You can destroy the stations, but you can't destroy our memories! You can take your corporate monkey suits and ties and throw them in the Gulf - we aren't listening any more!
