BizRadio Comeback?

Could Dan Frishberg have found his way again? Kudos to the station for apparantly dumping the 8-9A paid program on casino gambling, oops, I meant to say "guaranteed stock trading program". I found Brent Clanton on in the 8AM hour the past couple of days with no mention of the paid stock trading program that was there prior. As I have posted many a time in the past, Clanton, his style and topics are perfect for the all biz format in AM drive. I hope Frishberg leaves him there and resists temptations to re-sell the time to another paid hack. BizRadio is slowly returning to the great idea that it started out to be back in early 05 when it signed on. Even the afternoon programming with the real estate guy, although paid programming, is fairly informative most of the time. Kudos for bringing in Jack Berusian (forgive the spelling). He's a well known financial analyst from Squawk Box fame. Suggestions for the future: Keep filling the day with informative radio compelling to small and mid-sized businesses and entrepeneurs. I've bashed BizRadio in the past for getting away from their core beginning, but I'll be the first to give Kudos when they do something to make that format viable. If they can just get a sales staff that can sell it Frishberg might find a very happy balance between the paid programs and some actual beneficial commercial time sales to balance off his revenue. One final suggestion: PLEASE GO TO 7PM! Accomplish that and you'll find the path to long-term success.

I haven't listened to BizRadio 1320 in months, so just going on your assesstment of BizRadio maybe and I believe a big maybe Frishberg may have turned the reigns over to Brent Clanton and let him do the job he was hired to do in the first place.

If Brent is given a free hand to program the station it could be a great Business News-Talk station that is heavy on local content in six months and a station worth your time listening to through-out the day.

Frishberg may be getting very concerned about raising the money to buy KXYZ, which would be February 1st, 2008, not much time to turn the station around and find new investors. My guess is BizRadio would have to be a strong performer by Summer of 2007 in order to line new investors in his purchase of KXYZ. KXYZ could easily sell for $15M and up with the excellent metro Houston coverage 24/7. KXYZ is one of a handfull of stations in Houston that cover metro Houston 24/7. Frishberg's agreement with Multicultural Broadcasting was a three year lease with option to buy KXYZ after the three years.

Glad to hear that Brent Clanton is back on again from 8am-9am, he is a true professional in many ways. If the station is back in his hands to program there is a good chance that BizRadio will be a viable station by next summer.

Unfortunately I don't believe you will see BizRadio on past 6pm for some, most likely the group that purchased time to program Vietnamese from 6pm to 6am has a lease for at least a year for that time slot. If Brent Clanton's plans had been followed BizRadio would be on the air until 8pm by now. Frishberg's meddling really screwed up some brilliant ideas and made BizRadio a mediocre station.

Hoping that the station will turn around and become a good local Business News-Talk station.
