Which one do you see being yanked first?

Place your bets now and please remember to tip your waitstaff.

I dont know about "yanked" but in terms of a head to head battle for listeners, although I like them both, and Adam is funny as hell more often than not, my money is on BJ winning that showdown simply because he is the local talent and his show already has a well established and loyal listener base in town

So I guess the 5 years or so that Carolla has been on "Loveline" (first on The Buzz, then on The End) doesn't mean he's "well established" and has a "loyal listener base in town" ???

One of the compelling things about Stern's show is the number of celebrities, movie & TV stars he interviewed. I rarely heard such guests on BJ's show aside from the occasional comic who was at Giggles. BJ also has a penchant for discussing religion and spirituality ... something I think that morning radio listeners will find flat out boring.

Who will win the ratings war? I give BJ the early lead simply because he is local. But if he doesn't diversify his subject matter (away from the one-note Leykis topics) and lean on his producer to get better guests, people will start tuning to Carolla or even Bob Rivers.

I do feel Carolla has a quicker wit and on live radio is funny as hell. Adam is best thinking on his feet ... he frequently had me in stitches on Loveline and his appearances on Stern, whereas his more scripted TV efforts (Man Show, Adam Carolla Project, Too Late) sometimes fell flat.

Good luck to both...let the games begin!

HI Dan, I hear you and see what you're saying about Adam (hey I've listened to Loveline more than a few times) but I'm thinking that BJ's show (by all accounts thusfar anyway) is still going to be something more or less like the same show that has been successful on the Buzz for years, where Adam, although he, with Dr Drew, has a legion of fans from Loveline late at night, is starting a brand new untested show solo in the morning.

Also it seems moving from midday to morning (BJ) might be easier to take listeners with you than from late night to morning (Adam) although that is just speculation on my part.

Anyway it's that, on top of BJ being the local, which plays into why I was leaning toward BJ being in a stronger position.

Personally I am looking forward to sampling both shows, and I already know I will be one to flip back and forth between both of them during my morning commute.

I was lucky enough to hear some mock broadcasts that Adam did late last week, and let me tell you something....the show will be outstanding.

It won't just be Adam sitting and talking for 4 hours. He has sidekicks, guests and pre recorder bits.

I say I'll be on 107.7 more than 99.9.

I'll be recording BJ's shows this week. I'll be inclined to stick with local morning shows(BJ & Rivers). It's been reported that Steve the Producer will be joining "The BJ Shea Experience". I'm curious about what will happen to Double R. Seattle mornings are really going to get interesting. T-Man on KUBE, BJ Shea on KISW, Bob Rivers on KZOK, & Adam Carolla on The End.<P ID="signature">______________

It's going to be tough with BJ vs. Death (on Family Guy.)

But definately a radio war I could get into...

Corolla sucks, his TV call in show was a joke he couldn't carry on a conversation with a caller to save his life and most of his interviews left me feeling uncomfortable for the guy. With the acception of the night Steve O trashed his set that show was an abortion.

If Carolla thinks he can hold down a syndicated radio gig with interview skills like that he must be crazy. My guess is his show tanks it within a year much like every show he has worked on without Jimmy Kimmel.

I wonder why Jimmy Kimmel got the ABC gig and Adam Carolla was left with some writers cred and a bus pass to his gig on the Home & Garden Network.

I am not saying BJ will crush the competition around here, but as far as staying power I will put $1000 on the fact that Carolla's show gets the axe before BJ's

One more thing to think about.

Seems most of the callers I've heard on BJ's show are either dumbass stoners or prank calls. Not that there weren't a FEW worth listening to ... and sometimes BJ did raise the level of conversation. But try to discuss any issue of depth with those frat house boys, unemployed blue collar workers or the occasional bimbette? (And not make it a goof like Stern's wack-packers?) Sorry, NOT compelling radio for MORNINGS.

Now if BJ does get that new producer - who has morning show experience - that might turn things around. I think BJ is more than up to the task of raising the level of the show beyond his BUZZ-"saw" that women are golddigging sluts and the rest of the Leykis crap WITH THE RIGHT PRODUCER. Double-R ain't it.

Dangerous Dan
...looking forward to hearing both shows!
