BL-5C swelling

Tonight, when packing away one of my radios, a Radiwow R-108, I noticed that the rear battery door had popped off. I looked at it more closely and discovered that the radio's BL-5C lithium-ion battery had swelled enough to force the door open. Obviously, I removed the battery, as a swollen lithium-ion battery is indicative of dangers with the battery. I found this to be unusual because I've had good luck to this point with BL-5Cs, much better luck than 18650s. But it looks like something I'm going to have to watch out for in the other radios using BL-5Cs that I have, especially the Tecsun PL-320, which I like a lot despite its use of a lithium-ion battery. Anyway, something to keep in mind.

Yikes, can you exchange it for a new one or not?
I have several issues with that radio. Most notable is that its audio output is not centered between the left channel and the right channel; it favors the left. I know other listeners have a better opinion of it; I feel like I have better radios, especially Tecsuns and the Digitech AR-1780.

I've lost a nice Sony tablet due to a swollen lithium-ion battery, and a Samsung as well and, in my last full-time job before I went into semiretirement, one of my employees came to me one day with a problem with her iPhone. The battery had swollen so much that it not just distorted the phone, it was getting hot. Rather than wait for bureaucratic procedures to take hold, I sent her to the nearest phone repair storefront to get that thing out of there immediately.

I've got reasons for disliking those dang batteries.
