Sorry, but those dancing transformer-like football players coming in and out of nearly every commercial break makes me despise the FOX coverage.

That transformer-thing stretching and shaking out is the worst thing FOX does.

I don't like the stupid "robot" either, but he's only there before/after station breaks. C-BS does that amateurish wipe with the swooosh noise before and after EVERY cutaway. It's tiresome and lame. And even their best pbp crew pales in comparison to Buck and Aikman. And that's faint praise for Buck and Aikman, who are really pretty average.

NBC? They're okay, but with only one game per week they don't seem to have the analytical credibility. ESPN's coverage is dull as ditchwater and I hate what they've done to the MNF franchise.

So do I BION. And I'm 49 years old. Don't care much for the 'bot's smack gestures though. Or his hula dance during sponsor tags on the Pro Bowl maybe 3 or 4 years ago.

I wish Fox could have been more creative with the 'bot during sponsor tags in SB 45. Like having him dressed as a cowboy (lower case c ) riding a robot horse at full gallop. Now that would've been funny.

...I finally watched "Purple Rain" a few years ago, and he was the only good thing about it.

You may also enjoy "Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back." Not only do the main characters (okay, only Jay) talk them up a great deal, but they make a cameo at the end, performing "Jungle Love."

I had seen them do the Grey Cup halftime show a few years ago, and based
on that, certainly would never have chosen them for the Super Bowl.

On the other hand, Bachman-Turner Overdrive did this year's Grey Cup
halftime show and it was outstanding. Sign them up!

That's what I was going to say. I finally watched "Purple Rain" a few years ago, and he was the only good thing about it.

Something my wife and I have been doing for over two decades.
"Let's have a few drinks, get good and buzzed, watch Purple Rain again

NBC's Super Bowl next year? Are we sure there is going to be a next year in the NFL? How does that work, they just forfeit it? Then, 2012, what happens? Oh, I forgot, there won't be any games in any sport after 2012! A lot of those new stadiums will be useless. What a waste! For those college sophomores waiting for the 2013 draft, sorry. Timing can indeed be a bummer.

I have to admit, the robot on the New Year's Day games this year was kinda funny. He was sitting down, holding an ice pack to his head as if he had partied too much the night before.

However I'm with you, the fly in animation and sound effects are old and tiresome. I have a DVD of the '82 Sugar Bowl with Georgia and Pitt. It's nice to see back when they focused on the game and not what they could do with the Chyron. That's why I really don't watch the Super Bowl much anymore, because they treat it as an event that just happens to have a football game played during it.

Wasn't that a hockey player animation? And they had a not so neat graphic that all awful glow puck FOX Sports came up with.

Fergie should go solo. She doesn't need the BEP. They need her a lot more than she needs them! Her talent is wasted on them!

And I could have done without their "remake" of "I've Had the Time of My Life." :

Actually, they do need each other. If it wasn't for the BEP she would have been washed up after Wild Orchid failed, and they would just been another hip-hop trio with no real shtick.

Okay dumb question time. Why do we need half-time Super Bowl shows?

During the regular season half-time shows are hardly if ever shown. Instead the network goes back to their studios where their team of experts; be it Howie, Terry, Jimmy, Marino, Cower, Shannon, discuss the game.

Spending all that money to hire a band or act only adds to the price of a ticket for the Super Bowl. I know its all about making money, but what about giving someone a little break who may want to actually go to the Super Bowl in person by cutting the price of a stadium ticket? That could be done by eliminating the Half Time Show.

That would be great for those who watch the game on TV but what are those who attend the game in person gonna see? Cheerleaders & a high school marching band? Most NFL teams (Especially those in the smaller cities) don't even have a cheerleading squad. And do you know how much it costs to bring in a local high school marching band? A HELLUVA lot more than it did for Super Bowl I in Los Angeles all those moons ago.

That's why they bring in the big artists.

That said though, there is such a thing called REHEARSAL
