Black Friday At CC Burbank

Guess word hasn't gotten out yet, but there was a MAJOR bloodbath at Clear Channel Burbank today (Fri-2/24)

Total body count is supposed to come to 40. A production guy at KIIS, office positions in HR, IT, Continuity, Accounting, and promotions from KOST, KBIG, Star, KLAC. Every station was touched from what I've heard. KBIG's marketing Director went too. Don't know about engineering and some of the other departments. Unpleasant. Heard it was supposed to happen when the stations were all consolidated when they all moved to the new building and it took till now to make it all happen.

Why don't they just outsource operational control of the radio stations to Dubai?

I could also feel the vanishing of local talent just around the corner.Does this mean we will have more syndicated programs on all CC music stations everyday of the week as well?I always wonder about those elements. That's my thoughts for today!

Hearing now that the number of those let go may have been 20 or less, but that more are coming...
Edited by calguy on 02/27/06 09:40 AM.

According to AllAccess, it is 14.

Anyone know if any of the on-air talents got affected by this?

Where is Glenn?...

This is the type of CC news he is usually well out in front of.

Is he one of the ones on the outside looking in?

Inquiring minds...

> BTW what does the Continuity Dept do??

It coordinates production orders and copy and spots with production, traffic and sales.

Thanks, David. Shoot, I've been dealing for years with those people and didn't know their dept. had a name!! They all work very hard running around and getting it done.
