BLACK FRIDAY FOR WNDV

Since I know how much this board loves AMP I thought I would post this.

This is the word around the water cooler, and remember I have not confirmed this with anyone yet. But, due to the showings of WNDV in the spring book AMP has:

+released Todd Chance from AM drive
+demoted Tommy Frank from PD to AM drive
+brought back Casey Daniels to PD
+took back an offer to a potential night jock to replace Otis (departed for Z104)
+brought back Marco to nights

Whew...ok, thats all Ive heard. Like I said, no confirmations, but Todd and Casey are great peeps. If it is true Im sure Todd will land on his feet, he is UBER talented.

hopefully Casey can return U93 (for her sake - not AMP's) to where it should be after Tommy f***ed it up.

I think to be fired by AMP means you know what you are doing. Getting hired by them is a different thing however.

Re: Will we see a needed format change to 1490?

I have noticed that now they do not even mention simulcasting on 1490 AM. I was wondering if there will be a needed format change to 1490 WNDV AM? I hope it's oldies or MOR or Jack (on AM-think of that concept).

I'm surprised AMP programs anything on their other AM stations in South Bend. I wonder how long 1490 has simulcasted with 92.9. I know when i drove through South Bend in February 2003, I barely picked up 1490. I don't know if the signal is bad there or if it was my radio. Too bad the AMP Lafayette cluster doensn't even try to program anything on their AM station. They simulcast WLFF on the AM.

1490 has never been a very strong signal. It's barely receivable outside of St. Joseph county.

Years ago, 1490 was the lone country station in South Bend... the next format I recalled was all-70's, they were also airing Bob & Tom mornings, when they first became syndicated, at least statewide in Indiana. I don't think the 70's format lasted long, maybe 2 years, then I don't think anything followed after that before they hooked up the simulcast with U93. Seems to me that AMP could try to find some cheap syndicated format to pull down off the bird and create a new format for South Bend... some form of talk alternative to WSBT, or perhaps return to the 70's programming (I thought it was great back in the day), or heck, maybe return to their roots and do something like country oldies. On the good 'ol AM band, just like it once was.

Some of the talent has actually been able to get out while the gettin's good, before the AMP axe starts swinging. I've heard speculation that Todd Chance has a job lined up in Saginaw, MI... I don't know if he quit or if he was let go. I find the PD shuffle a bit confusing, given the things that have taken place in recent years, although rumor has it that salary was a big issue for both people.

Re: Will we see a needed format change to 1490?

I wonder how receptive Casey Daniels would be if we petitioned her to get a Liberal Talk Radio (*yuck) or Classic Country or Oldies (like the amt. WIOE play) on that station. I know when I questioned Art Agnoti via email about 102.3 FM's format right after they took it over from Pulse FM(pardon the misspelling) they went to Alternative for 36 hours on 102.3 1 week into taking it over) and even mentioned a morning DJ.
"South Bend's Rock Alternative 102.3" (Possibly the shortest lived station in the USA). lol

No, programming costs money. Sorry folks. Not the AMP way.

On second thought...

Maybe there's still an old Digilink brought up from Lafayette that someone can dub in some random tunes and just fire it up.

Just don't forget to reboot it every couple of hours when it sticks.

Art-AM

Alright, Mr. Angotti, we're rolling tape...

"Art-AM is South Bend's premier station without a format, and there are several reasons why..."

Sorry, I guess you had to be there.

Pat,
Thanks for the love, man. I'm on the beach and I'd like to be off before sand becomes permanently affixed to my ass. So if anyone reading has a lead, check out my audio at www.tchizzle.com. Pass it on.
