Black Friday in Burbank

Massive cuts at CC Los Angeles. Mike Sakellarides, Marketing Director Julie Kertes and many others at KOST. Don't know the body count yet.

Mike Sak too? How tough is it around there with them cutting people on a station BUILT on heritage and "permanence"?

Well this should not have been unexpected given CC's history. Too bad but realistically, with more and more voicetracking and stations with ZERO DJs (Jack and Jill) do you think many listeners will care or EVEN notice??? Personality radio is long gone from music stations except for a few exceptions.

Shut off the transmitter. That'll save a few more dollars.

It's coming eventually. Just a matter of time.

you sure about mike.........was JUST on KOST site and Mike is still on it
Maybe they fired their webmaster too.

Yes, they did. They cut Mike Sakellarides after his shift from what I hear. Marketing & Promotions director Julie Kertes and Marketing & Promotions co-ordinator Claudia Vine who handled the web as well. Mike Nolan was let go too after 21 years.

At HOT 92.3 middayer Sean Andre was cut.

At AirWatch, the news and traffic service owned by Clear Channel, let go of Mike Baez (Taylor), Barbara Brooks, Jim Curran, Walt Darocha (Jackson), Alan LaGreen, and Sharon Reardon.

It's a bloodbath...

I find it hard to believe that they have wiped out their highest rated FM besides KIIS, PPM or no. Then from AirWatch, Mike Nolan was used by KFI news so extensively for their fire coverage. If KNX/KFWB are smart they've already made an offer.

Wonder who else in the Pinnacle Building is going to have the Grinch steal Christmas , or Channuka as the case may be? I've been sort of on the fence about massive group ownership but this is the last straw for me, I say write your congresspersons and senators to excise this cancer that will destroy broadcasting.

Just heard that Sean Andre is leaving soon also. Was immenent after he was taken off the night show and replaced by Fart Laboe...i mean Art Laboe. Nice man...but really, are there going to pass out the PPM's in the jails?

Wondering who will replace these people? Who will do middays at KOST? Will they even do that? At many CC stations they're just lengthening shifts. Why fire so many at Airwatch Traffic? They already overwork those people and pay them little.

Just read on another board that KOST will now have only three airshifts. Unbelievable! So what, Mark Wallengren from 6-noon, Bryan Simmons from noon-6 and Karen Sharp from 6-midnight? Good people, but that's asking a lot. This is market number two for God's sake. Yeah, happy 25th anniversary, right...

Isn't 6 hours on the air in conflict with the AFTRA contract?

Maybe they will VT some of the time ??? How does that count re. AFTRA?

Also, I am REALLY going to miss hearing these words .... "Mike Nolan, KFI in the sky!"
