Blackbean on Real Radio

So when do we get the truth about what happened
to Russ's "friend " funny the picture of the Monsters on all
access had 3 people not even on the show anymore, they are dropping
like flies........WHAT REALLY HAPPENED

Blackbean has a history of confrontation with others, even apart from the infamous punching incident with Drew Garabo (which was just the most serious and public incident). My bet is that either he went off the handle one time too many and mouthed off to the wrong person or perhaps had a physical confrontation with someone at Clear Channel -- it wouldn't be the first time by any means -- or it may be that he violated his probation by drinking or something else, and his continued employment was contingent on him staying on the straight and narrow. It's a shame, cos he really is a funny, talented guy, but he's clearly got some serious personal issues to work on.

I was hoping someone here would know the answer to Bean's disappearance...after listening for a few years (even though I am not the target demo) I think releasing Daniel would be the better idea if this were a cost-cutting move as has been speculated elsewhere.

There may be some clues in Russ' recent postings on the Monsters website. He mentioned how they are now "a happy family" again and everybody was back to helping each other out with their bits. So, perhaps it was just a case of interpersonal conflict (BB has rubbed Russ' feathers the wrong way in the past) and BB was becoming more of a divisive influence instead of one of the team. And perhaps the reason it's not being discussed on the air is either legal (BB agreed to leave quietly as long as the situation was not made public), or just professional courtesy (Russ, though he may have had creative differences with him, would probably not want to jeopardize BB's future career by spouting off about him on the air).

I've heard that Blackbean wanted to focus more on his acting career. Maybe because of the conflicts you guys are mentioning, he just decided to hell with it.

Yup! That's the reason why he left, because we have so much power ;D

Per the Sentinel (and Russ, who read the item on the air this morning, though without further comment), Blackbean snagged a role in Fox' "Prison Break." Don't know if it's a recurring role or a one-shot deal. Still, something is not kosher here -- if the sole reason for BB leaving was him landing a great acting job, Russ would have mentioned it on the air last week, even if there was bad blood between them. (Even if they were ready to dump BB anyway, this would have given them a good positive p.r. hook for his departure). I'm thinking the Prison Break gig has little or nothing to do with the original reason for his leaving -- BB goes on a lot of auditions, and he may not have even gotten the word about the part when he left.

you ever think that was some sort of inside joke, given to the press
because he came within a wisker of ending up in prison after he whipped
the hell out of garabo? i will bet on it. It would be like them saying
Bubba left for a role on "house" helping the pill addicted doctor.

Not a joke this time...I was watching Prison Break last week and saw his character...a Panamanian police/military guard...and thought...that looks a lot like BlackBean from The Monsters. Nah, I thought. I even checked IMDB. I saw a "Carlos" someone (his real first name) but it didn't seem to correspond with what I saw on the screen...

What a great eye/ear I have!! ;D

I don't want to come across as self rightous or anything but I think it's sad that clear channel has allowed this to continue...it's obvious that black bean has some problem both personal and professionally. There is a fine line between funny and entertainment and just plain problems I wish the guy well and when I type well I don't mean his TV or radio career either...

Well Clear Channel is so well known for actually caring about it's
people. look who has left, they FIRED the best female talent left in
the building ( nothing against Lana from 101, but she would agree too)
Brenda Matthews! Brenda, is kind, sweet, great with listeners,
damn good looking, and is everything you could want in an air personality.
Now as far as decent female talent, you got Lana from the Fiasco.
She is the only one left, and how could that be, with a female running
the place? Everybody is just shaking there heads.
