Blackberry app for NY radio?

Does anyone know of a blackberry app that can stream WFAN or WEPN? I already have Iheartradio but neither of those stations is available.

I second that. Between those two apps (iheart for clear channel stations and tunein for everything else) you get virtually every station that streams in the US.

The Tune-In app should solve most of the questions about radio station streams, but if you're looking in particular for WEPN & WFAN...

WEPN: http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/pls/WEPNAM.pls
http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/pls/WEPNAMAAC.pls

WFAN: http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/pls/WFANAMDIALUP.pls
http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/pls/WFANAM.pls
http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/pls/WFANAMAAC.pls

A large number of stations use the www.StreamTheWorld.com stream provider. Examples include the CBS Radio owned stations (like WFAN) and AOL Radio (which CBS Radio is affiliated with).
www.iheartradio.com is for radio stations & digital, corporate & premiere channels owned by Clear Channel Communications.

Yes - MLB games do get blacked out on WCBS (Yanks) & WFAN (Mets) since MLB wants you to pay for the privilege to listen online. Having said that, the MLB package to listen online is relatively inexpensive (about $20/year, I believe - I could be wrong), so it might be worth it to you.

Some NBA, NHL & NFL games DO stream online on the team's local market station, such as Nets/Devils/Giants on WFAN.com, Knicks/Rangers/Jets on 1050ESPNRadio.com/1050ESPNNY.com & Islanders on WRHU.org (Hofstra University's station).

NBA games are tricky - I've heard the Nets on the WFAN stream, but for example, the Knicks playoff games haven't been on the WEPN stream this past week. I'd gather that the NBA might have a similar plan as MLB's to listen online.

I was on a plane on Sunday night and using tunein i was able to listen to the knicks game on wtsn out of new hampshire. Neither wepn nor weei was streaming.

It's true that if you use a list of stations broadcasting a particular game and bounce around from station to station, you may come across one that's streaming the game. Even with the Yankee games, which are broadcast on a number of affiliates (especially upstate NY), occasionally you'll find one that does stream; hopefully you could bookmark it for future use.

The Mets have only one other affiliate in upstate NY, so streaming opportunities are virtually non-existent.

As has been mentioned, TuneIn is a good app. BlackBerry also has Nobex Radio Companion, and it should stream all the CBS stations, including WFAN. If you have certain models of BlackBerry on AT&T, you should be able to get a Radio.com app from CBS, too.

I noticed something interesting today. The Yankees are playing an afternoon game, but as expected, when I tune to WCBS 880 on TuneIn on my blackberry I cannot hear the game. But I'm hearing the regular WCBS 880 news including the traffic and weather reports. So do they always continue with normal programming just for people listening online?

Been that way for awhile - when WCBS-AM airs Yankees games, the station's crew continues live coverage. Other CBS-owned stations run alternate programming during periods when sports broadcasts are on the air. For example, WIP in Philadelphia has rights to most of the local teams, but when you check in during the game, you might hear the replay of that day's "WIP Morning Show."

I guess the rules are different for the NHL. The other night, I was tuning into the online stream of WFLA-AM in Tampa, and I heard the Tampa Bay Lightning playoff game where Sean Hannity should have been. (Sister station WDAE-AM usually carries the Lightning, but the MLB Rays are the primary team there, so they bumped the NHL Lightning to WFLA.)
