Blame it on Santa (holiday 6+)

Wondering aloud if KMLE has done something really ground-breaking to pull in new listeners, or KNIX has done something really dumb to lose them, or if it's just a matter of one of the ratings pagers falling into a household that prefers one to the other.
And keep in mind that the Christmas season is when Nielsen loses the highest percentage of metered households. And it is hard to replace them due to the season and, today, due to the lack of replacement meters due to the logistics issues we face.

They hired a new PD a few months ago. Perhaps it's related to adjustments he made.

But also the country format tends to drop in December. It's as dependable as an oil leak in a Gremlin.
I don't know...he seems kind of Bland.

😜😛😝

And it is an amazing 29th in 25-54 with half a share and a rating of 0.0

In 35-64 is waaaaaay up to 27th overall with an astounding 0.7 share.

But in 65 to death, it is n-n-n-number wuh-wuh-wuhn with a 22.7 share, more than triple the #2 station with Santa and the Elves playing all-time year end favorites.

I'll bet they sign every de Soto and Olds dealer in the Valley of the Sun after this!
Why all the snark? Are they goring your ox?

OK I admit, that was my personal opinion. But I just checked that ratings list and.....yeah, where IS The Ride? Same thing with the other rimshot KSWG. I can only surmise that a) They're not counted in the ratings book due to being out of market, or b) not really considered commercial stations. All of 94.1's ads seem local and home-made. Killer signal though, even picked em up by Tucson. (I do kinda wish I could get KWSS here in Mesa though. Oh well.)
I don't think the rural rimshots like KSWG and KRDE (as well as exurban KIKO 1340 and associated FM translator) subscribe to Nielsen (KSWG used to, but must have gotten too expensive for Mr. Barna. Heck, he can't even afford good audio processing for the station). They're not going to get national agencies buying them other than for political buys.

As if leftwing radio has ever been a huge success. Why not turn down the temperature and leave out the expletives?

It would have been nice if the two-time impeached loser & former reality TV host (who uses *plenty* of expletives) had lowered the temperature. I don't recall 92.3's (then 620's) giants of yesteryear - Westmoreland, McMahon, Harvey et al - ever needing to stoop to that level but it seems to be the norm for Bonneville's target demo. Accordingly, the mass exodus to 91.5 will continue.

Some advice from someone who used to score numbers like this at K-O-Y back in the day:
Don't let your sister station give your boomer nostalgia station away as a bonus to get on a buy. The year that someone gave Jack In The Box a free schedule on the AM to get them on the FM, legal came back and said that as a result our lowest unit rate for the year was $1. By law, what rate do you have to give to qualified candidates? Your lowest unit rate. Who votes in elections? 65+. What spots can't you pre-empt? Political. So we were bumping higher paying clients left and right to play dollar a holler candidate spots. It may have been the only time a station lost money on political spots. I opened up 3 minutes an hour to try to get the car dealers back on the air, but it was overrun by more candidates. The sales manager learned the hard way on that one.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: they should have every luxury car dealer and financial planner on the air in every stop set. I don't hear it. About the only direct business I hear is a car wash and the I Sold It On eBay store in Sun City that has been buying that station for the past 3 formats.

Station managers need clean cars to impress each other, so the car wash is probably a trade. The eBay seller? Maybe another trade so they can get rid of old stuff. Lately the Nurse and I've heard Jeff Jr of Trajan Wealth hawkin those 10% annuities to retires who realize a 1% CD aint keeping up with 6% inflation. Direct sales take time and a lot of effort...something order takers don't like doing.

My oxen don't compete for 65 and over. In fact, Hispanic media targets 18-49, not even 25-54.

92.3 is essentially chasing away all their listener to 91.5. It's like a real-life "Miracle on 34th St.," but instead of going to Gimble's, they go to 91.5 just for some news - any news. I miss Anklarlo, I miss Pat McMahon, I miss Paul Harvey - I miss all the talkers who made 92.3 great. Bonneville should be ashamed of themselves for what they did to that station - a city this size, and 92.3 is our flagship news/talk station? It's an embarrassment.
Sidenote, I saw Pat at Costco this past Fri. He was pretty cute in his fedora, doing the Pat thing...but man, did I feel OLD when I found out he's going to be 90 next year! 😛😛😛

There are a lot of markets that I saw where they switched to Christmas music back in December and when the Holiday PPM's came out last month, they would skyrocket into the 10's, some as high as 17+. Apparently this type of music just works!
