BLAMO aka "Mark & Mo" fired in Cincy...

"Mark & Mo" were fired today by Cincinnati's WEBN. Columbus radio fans remember them from their tenure on 99.7 The Blitz as BLAMO..."Blazor and Mo in the Morning"....any chance of the returning to CBus?

God I hope so!

What station would take them? Clear Channel owns seven or eight stations up there. They're not gonna work at the Blitz again. All that's left is CD102.5 or one of the Wilks' stations (Wink 107.1, K95.5 both country stations, and QFM96).

I think they might go for 96 rock in Cincy once the competetive clause runs out. They might not work together again but they might end up somewhere. I don't see Qfm or CD1025 trying for them.

I've read also that KISS 107 there also has replaced their morning show with the Kane Show. Sorta makes you wonder if Dave and Jimmy would be next.

D & J I would say are safe for now as long as current Clear Channel Management in CMH is in place... If you see a change at the top (Cinci had an Operations Manager change for multiple stations) then well I would say there would or could be some shake ups at WNCI..

However outside of D and J and Chris Davis .. WNCI is "automated" ..so they are already running the station pretty thin.. I know the other night when Licking County had that Tornado warning at 3am.. the EAS "played" the warning.. then it returned back to a song and then a voicetrack came on about some TMZ-type stuff... No mention of weather.. no local cut in was nothing but the hits...

I notice that on all their CHRs at night. WNCI and Daytons Channel 999 had the same music log running on overnights. That's bad when you live between 2 cities and both top 40s are run by the same company.

Yep.. Both running the Premium Choice "log" [WNCI also runs the PC voice tracks overnight because they never mention "WNCI" very generic sounding TMZ type stuff usually].

Things are pretty cut and dry on all the channels.

WNCI: Live in mornings (syndicated with local breaks), and live in afternoons. Middays is Seacrest with local music, and nights is tracked out of state with local music. Overnights completely premium choice.

KISS: Mornings syndicated, middays Seacrest, afternoons live (all local music), nights and overnights completely premium choice.

Channel 999: Mornings syndicated, middays Seacrest, afternoons live (premium choice music log, STILL not locally programmed), nights and overnights completely premium choice.

Beats me why WDKF has a local PD in the building and STILL can't schedule his own music, but whatever.

Blamo would have to do some serious butt kissin' to go anywhere near Blitz. Clear Channel won't employ them and Q is stuck with Elliot and Archie.

I had a gut feeling when BLAMO left the locally-owned NABCO for the corporate world of CC, they wouldn't last long no matter how good their ratings were. They should've thought twice about leaving 'RKZ.
Dave & Jimmy are syndicated to a few stations, and their ratings I'm assuming are good, so I doubt CC would axe them, but then again, I've been proven wrong before.
As far as the CHR PC logs go, it's sad. It doesn't make any sense why the Dayton PD of WDKF, Steven Lewis, was brought aboard and can't locally program the station and is instead told to run PC, or so I assume. Sounds like corporate has his hands tied. What makes no sense was when WNCI dumped their successful previous PD and brought back Michael McCoy when 'NCI's ratings were up under the previous PD. Unreal. Then again, CC's numbers were heading up in Cincy too and they dumped the PD at 'EBN as well.

Doesn't seem to unusual to me. If Travatto was doing so well in market 35, it's not surprising they'd want to move him up to market 11 (Detroit) to shore up WKQI. And they already know McCoy has had past success with WNCI.

The PD only maintains the talent and on air presentation in most cases... They typically don't have much say in Music.. that would be the MD's job (Music Director). I am guessing why you see local PD's in these cases is they are there to interface with the talent (local or PC).

Not sure where you get that information, but it's simply not true. In fact, *most* Music Directors have very little say in what music gets played, and in fact, are glorified secretaries for the Program Director. They design the clocks. They pick the music. They make the rules. *If* the station even has an MD anymore, most likely they shuffle the deck to the PD's approval. Little more.

I'm really sorry to hear this. I've known Mark for more than 20 years...I was really rooting for him. He has talent, energy and a good
mind. He'll land on his feet.

It doesn't make sense that they dumped him and Mo b/c 'EBN's numbers were headed in an upward direction for the first time in a long time. They only gave them 6 months? As usual at Cheap Channel, if it ain't broke, fix it. ::)

I think most of all Clear Channel Music Stations are on PC at night. Q95 in Indianapolis never has Q95 mentioned on air when the Tracks are on
