San Diego's other CC of radio, Chris C at sdradio.net reports "MEC Communications has reportedly cut the salary of Blazin’ 98.9 FM forty percent."
He says perhaps a dozen folks mat have quite because of that.
Very clever move by the company: instead of firing staff you make them quit and that way the employees get a whole lot less unemployment than if they'd been laid off.
This from their website, which is full of vacuous mission statements, visions and values:
"MEC Network’s mission is to build a team that is completely devoted to it’s company and to foster and embrace the characteristics of leaders in our industry. To forge a path of continual self realization, high standards of business ethics that underscore respect of self and others – and, ultimately, that transcend self to deliver superb service to our client."
and this gem:
" MEC Network Work Environment- MEC Network is committed to create an environment based on self respect as well as respect towards others, in a collective effort to achieve harmony. "
Note to all: always avoid working for managers who toss out junk like this. You can pretty much be sure that their management style is based on whatever book they read most recently.
