Bleidt pleads guilty

Heard Listo Fisher mention this on WRKO just now, and more details via
WHDH-TV 7. Brad Bleidt pled guilty this afternoon to stealing more than
$27 million from investors. Details on the case and what Bleidt could
face for punishment:

http://www1.whdh.com/news/articles/local/BOS3107/

Ch 7 just reported on it..they say he's expected to be behind bars for more than 11 years. They talked to a victim and a friend of one victim, and they said
his crimes were heinous and ruined lives. One woman he swindled, said one
man, "has been sick (about it?) ever since". Ch 7 said he agreed to
plead guilty to 115 counts of mail fraud, I believe.

"Clyde" pleads guilty but what about "Bonnie"

That 8#@%&^*+> even robbed his mother!
Can't believe that his trophy wife knew nothing as she rode her polo ponies and Beemer and lived in Manchester By The Sea.
So many people lost their retirement savings because of this piece of human excrement that he should be forced to work off paying what he stole. The Feds were also going after the local Boston Banks in this area because they had to know what was going on as well. Who knows the "Garden" naming rights might have to be sold again to pay off those debts to society.
And we are not even talking about what "Clyde" did to destroy WMEX/ WBIX. Langer will have to live with that as well. Heard the "Dean"
once say that A.L. would never listen to anyone in the radio business and because of that his dream would probably fail. The "Dean" did not live to see that prediction come true but he was right as he was with so many other things. Imagine Langer had Gene Burns in the house at WMEX and he let him go for Bonnie Bleidt......Need one say anymore!

yeah she maybe made a deal to turn him in...and could escape prosecution.
Did she know about it? who knows, but how could Brad have kept any/all
this from her?

hopefully he, or someone else, will turn it around eventually--ironic that the night they celebrated BIX's nighttime power increase/authority was the night it all started to unravel. But yeah, he took bad advice in dealing with B.B.

yeah, Bonnie took over for Gene...wow.

11 years in jail does NOT repay society

> Brad Bleidt pled guilty this afternoon to

Sending this person to jail does nothing to help the people who invested with him.

A Masonic Lodge (in Lynn) trusted him with all their lodge and some individual investments. All gone. There are so many he deceived. Is justice served if Bleidt does jail time? Will that make ANY of the victims feel better? Will it repair any of the damage he has done?

There must be a better "punishment". What could he do to try to pay back what he stole? Lock him up and we all pay for his room, board, care and protection. Why not have him work for each of his investors. Mow the lawns, wash the cars, cut and stack the fireplace wood, clean, paint. Whatever hard labor. It may not pay back $27 million but at least it would give something of benefit to investors. Any other ideas?

I believe he was prosecuted for securities fraud and mail fraud. If so, you can't blame the Commonwealth--those are FEDERAL laws. I'm sure that Bleidt is a Republican but I doubt whether connections to the Bush administration, if any, made a difference in this case.

> JUST 11 years in prison?

And what will he do while in prison? Think "Shawshank Redemption", minus the escape.

Yeah, keep two sets of books; just like the old days...

Any relation to "Hala" Loki.... of Arthur Godfrey fame?
And don't say, 'who was Arthur Godfrey' and have anything to do with broadcasting.

Nope! No relation to Hali Loki, but my better half does bare a resemblance to Carmel Quinn and don't tell me that you think "The Mariners" were a baseball team. By the way, I think Arthur fired more employees than Donald Trump. Just ask Julius LaRosa. Now for some Lipton Tea as I strum my ukulele. Howaya, Howaya, Howaya.

Re: "Clyde" pleads guilty but what about "Bonnie"

Until and unless such time comes when evidence is uncovered suggesting Bonnie Bleidt indeed had something to do with her husband's scams, we must assume she is innocent.

Ah, Carmel Quinn, Cardinal Cushing's favorite.

Just don't buzz Tetaborough Airport again...

Word was Julius LaRosa was dating Godfrey's mistress. That's why he fired him.

Also, Godfrey's morning show was one of the first to be simulcast on both radio and television.

Someone should do a bio pic on Arthur Godfrey.

And you know what they say about "a s s u m e".

Do they still have stockades? I wouldn't let this guy near my home or car

True, jail may be too good for this bum but I wouldn't let him anywhere near me. I don't care how much money he stole from me. I wouldn't let him work off any penalty near anything I own (except maybe a Comfort Castle, and then I'm not sure I could trust him).

There is no fitting punishment I can think of. On the other hand, I would get some satisfaction from seeing him in a stockade or whatever those things were. You know, stick you head and arms in it and then bring down the top so you can't pull your head out. Then the culprit stands in this rig in the town square while everyone gawks at or throws some rotten veggies.

How about a day-glo orange jumpsuit and picking up litter by the side of the highways, full-time, for the next 11 years? Chain gangs - what a great idea! Let's bring 'em up North and get some work out of these dregs of society!
As they said on Baretta: don't do the crime if you can't do the time...
