All stations close to the border are subject to international agreements to which the countries listed have signed.
I'm sure Cuba and Canada won't have problems with a little FM in South Texas, but Mexico will see how it plays in with their allocation scheme.

Whaaaaaat?????
Is that a joke?

Having to clear anything with Cuba really would be a joke. In fact, however, that's a catch all grouping with Mexico being the only country that could be affected by the particular application.

The listing in this thread is a subset of a national database. So the FCC has to use broad terms to describe stations along the Canadian border, the Mexican border and far south Florida that are all affected by the same treaty.

Thanks for posting - was curious why this station hadn't taken to the air yet.

Warm mornings bring the Monterrey FMs into Starr County almost all year long. 105.3 XHPAG (100kw) is a local almost all of the time, and I was listening to 106.9 XHPJ (50kw) this morning like was a local.

Which leads to the major issue with the San Isidro allocation... 98.9 XHJD. Even if this station is built, it's going to have a lot of issues with the Monterrey station. Sounds like the new station will just be providing the "Radio Vida" service, already heard in Starr County on 104.7 KERG, so dedicated listeners will have an alternative way to listen.

Stations aren't blocked...applications are. In that case the application was for a slight increase in power at their present site, which for some reason apparently was not pursued. KAMA-FM continues to operate with their licensed facilities.

Actually, there are a multitude of different treaties..see them here:

I think Cuba/US is governed by NARBA

The Canadians are said to be very agreeable/cooperative. The others, not so much.

KXXN (FM) IOWA PARK BMPH-20120705ADH Tower registration

What are they trying to do? I remember they were on the air with a country format last time I was up there. Maybe they went dark again?

Just a guess, but the tower registration (or listing an existing registration number) may have just been oversight on someone's part. In any event, the application was for a slight relocation of the antenna and it was approved September 18th.

KXXN did go off the air back in June and filed an application to remain silent because of a pending sale.

minus One.

K226BA Kingsville granted this AM.

Subtract one from the total.

Are KSAG owned by the same owners of KSAQ? I wonder if they are planning to do what they did with KOKE-FM in Austin? KSAQ 102.3, simulcasting on 103.3?
Would KSAG 103.3 Charlotte interfere with KJOJ 103.3 Freeport?
