Blogger Fired For Trashing Conservatives Gets New Job At MSNBC

When you're a blogger for the "Tea Party" movement for the Washington Post, and end up losing said blogging gig after e-mails disparaging conservative figures such as Rush Limbaugh and Matt Drudge are released, where do you turn to next?

The left-leaning MSNBC, which has hired Dave Weigel as a paid contributor within days of news about his scandal being broken, leading to his eventual dismissal at the newspaper. He was officially introduced at the end of "Countdown" on Monday night.

Does this surprise anybody? Simple fact; It's about M-O-N-E-Y. MSNBC was the third-rated all news network. After flopping around for years, they took a page from the Fox News playbook, then flipped it around and hired primarily left-wing pundits and commentators. By doing this, they have become the number 2 all news network.

Since it worked, you can expect them to hire new left-wing contributors from time to time, just as you can be assured that any well-known and reasonably articulate right-wing politican out of a job will become a "Fox News Contributor."

Such as I predict for Gen. Stanley McChrystal - future "Fox News Military Analyst." ;D

The real issue behind this "scandal" is that Weigel was a member of a ListServ established by Wash. Post reporter Ezra Klein, which also had members who were political operatives and office holders from the left. This raises some obvious questions about collusion and efforts to "spin" the news which go right to the heart of journalistic ethics. (imagine some Wall Street Journal and Fox News reporters being part of an informal ListServ that included Dick Cheney, Sarah Palin, Karl Rove, etc.) Andrew Breitbart (the guy who broke the ACORN sting videos) has offered $100K for the archives, and is willing to go higher. Should be interesting to see which is more important to today's "journalists" ... Loyalty and protecting a source, or a check with a six-digit figure on it.
