Bloodbath at WMIB begins... just in time for Christmas!

Clear Channel does it again! These heartless S.O.B.'s give midday host Coka Lanie a big fat pink slip for Christmas!

Did this have something to do with the most recent trend? Only insofar as it probably has accelerated the time table. The Beats former direct competitor WEDR has taken a dramatic jump up in listening. Meanwhile the Beat is sucking wind. Hey, I know... let's blame the midday girl!!!

How long before Prince Marky D and Papa Keith are shown the door?

"Doing things differently".... yeah right!

Looks like more of the same to me.

Coka was let go the middle of last week, well before yesterday's trend. I don't think her departure had to do with ratings, however, it's been speculated there was unresolved friction between Coka and her PD. It's been said, Coka has more programming expertise in her pinkie toe than the PD has in her whole body.

I'd also look for Markie and Keith to also exit soon. They don't quite fit WMIB's new, soft Urban AC sound. Will the PD be making an unvoluntary exit as well?

How to give WMIB a fighting chance.

"It's been said, Coka has more programming expertise in her pinkie toe than the PD has in her whole body."

That would explain the weak sound of WMIB. Too slow. Too repetitive Too BLAHHHH!!!! Not a recipe for success in Miami. Not when you've got 99 JAMZ, HOT 105 and Power 96 as viable urban competitors.

Clear Channel clearly does not "get it" when it comes to urban product in South Florida.

Here's what I would do if I owned WMIB:
1. Dump Steve Harvey. Miami doesn't give a damn about Steve Harvey.
2. Go head-to-head with WEDR (HOT is too strong in this market, where WEDR is vulnerable).
3. Put former Jamz PD Cedric Hollywood over programming at WMIB.
4. Put Al B Silk on in mornings (would kill Big Lip Bandit) (Need to also find a strong comedian to combat Benji)
5. Put Terry Alexander on in afternoons. (strong 25-44 older demo appeal).
6. Keep Poppa Keith at nights.
7. Bring back Jill Tracy as the round the clock entertainment reporter. (Again, strong appeal to older demo)
8. Lure DJ Irie over as the "official mixmaster". With CC's Miami Heat contract, this should be a no brainer.
9. Go live in the clubs on weekends with Prince Marky D. Miami is still a party town and Power 96 uses this effectively where WEDR never has. Prince Marky D is great with live crowds. Get him the hell out of the studio!

Clearly I've put some thought into this. Not much mind you. I just like to see good radio competition. Currently there is none in Miami. This would at least make things interesting again on the urban front.
