Bloomberg 1200 format change soon

You were one grade behind me, then. We probably crossed paths in the halls of SHS, the Intermediate School and maybe even an elementary school as kids, I would imagine.
Why yell? We get your point.

True....but I think it's gotta work better than what they are doing now.....airing their programs on 1430AM...which after sunset (4:15PM in Jan)....it's darn near impossible to hear the signal places like Dorchester and Allston/Brighton with only 1KW (directional)!
I've noticed that you can get WKOX at night in coastal Dorchester. You have to be right near the coast, like around Morrissey Blvd., Savin Hill, Neponset, etc... then it comes over the water down the Mystic River from Medford through Charlestown across Boston Harbor and the Seaport down to coastal Dorchester. If you go inland in Dorchester just a little bit, it's gone.
Probably same result in signal and ratings as before but iHR feels it needs to be on a stronger signal on 1200 to clear shows and ads.They made money with Bloomberg on 1200 but Bloomberg went with Beasley who got them an FM (translator).
Someone on a conservative message board was glad to hear this; he likes Rush and listens via HD radio--he feels if iHR keeps 1200 on HD2 it'll be a strong signal.
On the original run of Rush 1200, later rebranded Talk 1200 it was on 107.9 HD2. Talk 1430 was put on 101.7 HD2 which I guess was tough for him...then got taken off.If iHR keeps 1200 on 94.5 HD2 with this change it should work for him .

The question is, do they go local in AM drive when Rush & Hannity move to 1200? IMHO, it wouldn’t surprise me if iHeart expands the Jim Polito show currently on Worcester’s WTAG & Springfield’s WHYN to 1200. Polito is already familiar with the listeners in eastern MA from his time at channel 25. And his show pretty much just toes the line of the right wing national agenda.
IHeart already has a local show in Kim and VB on RKO.Competing against themselves...Yes Polito or something could happen but they may well do local and some syndie on 680 and all syndie (incl Fox Sports) on 1200.Kuhner claimed he got a 1 yr deal with iHR so they didn't put Rush on 680 after all.But if they think putting Polito on AMD on 1200 will get them some bucks, then yes.He's already working for them but would it cut into RKO's morning show ratings?

Yes, I posted that yesterday on another thread...both will be moving to 1200 - I'm listening to WKOX 1430 now and the Holistic Hotline program just announced that they too will be moving to WXKS 1200 starting next Saturday....

Listening to a replay of Limbaugh on WKOX 1430......."Rush's week in review".....just heard the blip again.....Limbaugh and Hannity will be moving to WXKS 1200 on THURSDAY, March 1st not the 5th like I originally posted.

The law says they can't operate or profit from stations in a trust.
iHeart has donated a few AMs to minority groups in the past, but the pending financial situation may interfere.
If you were a high school, and were faced with the operating expense of owning an AM vs. running an online station that has minimal cost, which would you choose?
How many schools have sold off or just plain turned in their licenses due to the regulatory BS and cost of EAS?
WZLY comes to mind as the most recent, WPAA Andover was not so long ago either...

The youth of today don't GARA about radio, they are just as happy to burn up gigabytes on Daddys data plan to stream content and some stations such as Merrimack, and Wellsley, and Phillips Andover are just as happy to stream...
Those are non-profit FMs. 1430 is a for-profit AM, with very expensive tower and transmitter costs. Can't just rig up a yagi on the roof of your school.
I think he was citing those as stations that have turned in their licenses and gone dark, not as stations donated to schools. So what are the chances nobody wants 1430 after 3 or 5 or 10 years in this trust? Can't iHeart just say "Screw it. AM is dead" and abandon it?
