Bloomberg coming to Boston

From today's Inside Radio email:
"Bloomberg will shortly be launching a radio station in Boston and we are
searching for sales executives to spearhead this exciting initiative."

Guessing... 1200? One of the Salem stations (590 used to be business)? Who else?

...1120 or 1390? currently Money Matters incl new Graham show

Hopefully waaf gets the ax and cuts the simulcast and puts wrko on fm.

Mark thought 1460 a possibility. Article on WXBR's return

http://www.enterprisenews.com/busin...-that-Brockton-radio-station-will-return-soon

>>Sound tests are being done at WXBR 1460-AM as the station prepares to officially return to the airwaves in a couple of weeks...The station owners purchased a new transmitter last month
“I drive around in my car and listen for the quality of the sound and take note of how far the signal goes out,” said Lozama. He said the signal is strong enough to reach parts of Revere.

I also hope this happens, because there are way so many "Rock & Roll" music radio stations around. "WRKO" has "Bloomberg" on Saturday nights for an hour. That would be cool if they did that, put "Bloomberg" on 680 (24/7), and put "WRKO" current programming on 97.7

WXBR-1460's daytime signal doesn't cover parts of the Boston market, and at night, they are only audible due south and southeast of Boston.

Doubtful: WXKS-1200. I think if they're going to move away from their automated 24/7 standup comedy format, it would be to 24/7 Fox Sports Radio, which WXKS owner Clear Channel has a stake in.

More likely: Either WBNW-1120 (which already airs some Bloomberg programming) will air more of it, or Bloomberg is going to buy a station in the Boston area.

My candidates for a possible Bloomberg Radio purchase here: WUFC-1510 (yes, the perennially embattled 1510!), WRCA-1330, or most likely, the combo of WAMG-890/WLLH-1400.

WRKO? (Was: Re: Bloomberg coming to Boston)

Because 97.7 doesn't reach as large an area as 680, I can't see WRKO abandon AM for FM.

However, I can see Entercom "blow up" WAAF, with 107.3 becoming an WEEI simulcast (which will mean a better signal for WEEI programming in Central Massachusetts and Metrowest; this would also allow 1440 in Worcester to go 24/7 ESPN Radio) and 97.7 simulcasting WRKO, with the latter staying at 680 on AM.

In fact, I'm surprised Entercom hasn't done this already.

So your saying that they will buy 1120 AM WBNW and become a Full-time Affiliate station for Bloomberg programming, yeah I can see that happening.

I also could see Salem Communications flipping one of their stations formats to (Bloomberg) Business Talk. I don't think they would flip WEZE 590 or WROL 950, but I think they would possibly flip WWDJ 1150 ''Radio Luz''.

Um. WEEI is already on 93.7 remember? What would 93.7 become? AAF?

No.

WEI would be on both 93.7 and 107.3, with WRKO simulcast on 680 and 97.7, while WAAF would leave analog radio.

What about 1570 WMVX? With the power boost, how's their Boston signal these days?

Naw, they’re ethnic programmers and the power boost went up to the Lawrence/Merrimac Valley area.

It was 550 in Pawtucket, RI but that's now Catholic programming.

Uh.... what??? A.) That will never happen. B.) That is one of the more foolish things I have seen posted on this board. C.) It's a good thing you don't work for Entercom.
