"Bloopers" Is Back

I look for this to turn up on NBC again. With the way things are going at 30 Rock
I think they are going to have a definite need for uber-cheap filler programming come
spring.

I hope NBC shows this.

Over the past year I have had the series hosted by Erik Estrada and Laura McKenzie, which manily uses home video from the Internet or sent in by users. It was on My Network and hosted by Arsenio Hall before that.

But I don't have fast enough Internet--or sound--at home, and I don't take the risk of going to unfamiliar sites either. At the few libraries where computers have sound (all of them do but not all provide you with headphones) I'm not wasting my time on cute kittens or bloopers.

The original article noted that the new "Bloopers" would be seen on Tribune stations (WGN, WPIX, et al.) But it would not be out of the question for the show to air on, say, NBC affiliates in other markets.

This is an interesting pickup by tribune this reminds me of weekend first run syndication back in the 80's solid gold, star search and lifestyles of the rich and famous etc etc.

The program is called "The World's Funniest Moments" and it is now provided to local TV stations through broadcast syndication rather than MyNetworkTV.

I remember ABC did this bloopers show in 2003 but it flopped. THis show will always be remembered for being on NBC in the 1980's and when Betty White was a Golden Girl.

Maybe My Network TV could air the new 'Bloopers' show concurrently with the syndicated run (Hey, it's sone it before...)

It didn't really flop more than performed the service it meant to; fill up timeslots at a time where most of ABC's programming was flopping horribly. Once ABC got a good schedule in place the next year (and the person who invented two-hour reality shows got their way), Bloopers wasn't needed anymore except in special circumstances.

It's cheap, it's always popular, so why not?

IMO, a few bloopers go a long way. The Dick Clark produced show was better when they broke up the monotony with the practical joke segments. If they do that, they could rename it "punk'd, but I guess maybe they'd have to buy the rights from Ashton Kutcher. ;D

A few bloopers can be laugh-out loud funny, but let's face it - most consist of: actor messes up his line, all actors on the set then giggle.
