Blue Rocks on 89.7. Anyone had a chance to listen?

I have not yet heard and was wondering how the signal is working in various parts of New Castle County. Does it reach from Claymont to Newark to Middletown?

If so, it may have been a smart move on the 'Rocks part. 1290 could hardly be heard outside of Wilmington when the power dropped. I tried listening on the way home from Blue Rocks games so many times, but could get the station about as far as the GM plant.

I am sure Rowan U. is enjoying this financially, also. Although it may not be huge bucks, it certainly helps keep their radio station afloat financially.

My question is, if a ball team makes a non com station such as WGLS its 'flagship' station, how do they get around running sponser commercials? Doesn't a non com have to run the spots as if they are a 'donation' or a 'grant'? And if the team is buying the time, do they have to say the time was purchased as a 'donation'? Do they have to just give a disclaimer at the start and end of the broadcast? Do they even run commercials during the game now?

I can get WMPH not real well at home south of Wilmington in the New Castle Area, in the car better. I'm not convinced your 100w signal would cover NCC any better than WGLS, as I get both at home and in the car far better than 91.7. However, maybe a mini network could be formed with WGLS (Rowan Univ) as the flag ship, WMPH (Mt. Pleasant High), and WVUD (Univ of Del) as affilitates. Between the three non-comm FM signals, a fairly large piece of NCC would be served. It's something to think about.
