blueberry's not done yet

on the same day they blow up B97 WWBX, they also ditch the modern rock format on 101.7 WFZX, it's now a simulcast with 102.1 WGUY (I believe these are the two stations that have to be spun off)

I wonder what the plans are for their construction permit at Machias on 101.1??? (Formerly WBEO, but never constructed, and calls deleted in 2003.)

blueberry already destroyed wtos 105.1, fired all the previous hosts, changed the format to a playlist driven one

those arbitron ratings will be going down very soon for them i gather

I'm Back in VT weekdays for now...
Tos really sucks now...
Has anyone noticed on their webpage their playlist has dropped from 1,000 songs to now less than 500 in rotation.
Tom O and Mr Mike are lifesavers to my mornings otherwise I'm Ipoding it when I can't get my own automation or show on WWLR . I can only stand commercial krap so Much. I miss hearing bands like Deadseason, Pantera, Jackyl. they seem to be not played too much now.
Its sad to see TOS go like this. I have had many of nights that Tos has cheered my like many mainers listening.
train to CT has been only $30 to take so I'm keeping my weekend jobs Since I can;t get a radio job these days.

Jamie,

Would you consider military broadcasting? Both the Army and Air Force are in need of them. Admittedly, you might get stuck doing TV news, and all the radio jobs are overseas, but you can't beat the job security and the steady paycheck! Doing stories is technically no riskier than covering a natural disaster, a Geraldo-type story or something else anyway. Sheeat, Brian Williams came to broadcast from our FOB and around Afghanistan.

Give me a buzz if you're interested. (Cuz if you go Army and pass the requirements, I can get a cool $2G's out of the deal.)

Another station bites the dust.
Blueberry has been the WORST thing that the bangor market has done, now i know ppl will hate the dicisions Blueberry has made, Bangor has NO stations anymore it seems!
And why would u need to simulacst 102.1 WGUY, both signals come in the same in Bangor!!
Weird to tune your radio and hear the same thing on near frequenties
idiots.

because they're the 2 stations clear channel (now blueberry) needs to sell in order to get within the market cap the FCC has set and its easier to simulcast with a skeleton crew these days (and have listeners) than be an automated jukebox (when you can get that with internet radio/Ipods)

NHRadiochild,
It is something I have looked into. I have considered it. It will be a last resort. I would like to figure out who runs 103.1 relay of nothing in stamford CT 1st. (see CT Board) I will keep you in mind. For now I will keep Rockin it on WWLR TOS Style old school

looks like blueberry's stations are getting new websites through a company in CT. and www.wtosfm.com are in the process of makeovers.

is this so when TOS;s playlist is down to 100 tunes like Z100 in NYC they won't show the playlist anymore ::)

Ok, this is the final straw, for me at least, I can safely say now that Blueberry Broadcasting was a bad move for Bangor.
Is Bangor really that desolate where we have to get rid of stations to simulcast with others?
A waste of radio space maybe?
I really don't know why people HATE automation. It's all music, usually what we like in radio, and it brings out some deep cuts that we might haven't heard of in a while or at all that we don't usually hear in our favorite format. Too much of automation is a bad thing, like WSYY is, but still, it's like your iPod in a radio (in fact thats what WSYY's motto is with their station :D) Voice tracking has gone out of control in the bangor market, but isn't that better than nothing at all? WEEI does come in perfectly at night on the AM usually, why do we need them on the 910 dial, and taking away WABI, the original AM/FM station in Bangor. Blueberry took away alot of history right there with WABI, they've been a staple in the Bangor area since the 20's!
Hopefully it comes back soon with something else. What was wrong with standards? I know there are alot of older citizens who may like that, especially on the AM. Kind of a cheap idea to use George Hale cause he's on WVOM at the same time, decieving but still, now Bangor has 2 AM sports stations, and 2 Talk. There are supposed to be others in the are with CP's coming soon.
Who is next to get the axe in Bangor for blueberry? WLKE? WBFB? Country is the only thing that has stayed the same, unfortunately. I hope the websites will look good once they not "under construction" anymore. Maybe add some unique features to the stations- RDS? Last played? A suggestion maybe because i don't see any Cumulus doing this.
Is Bangor that much of a ghost town where we can't support a rythmic Top-40 station and a modern rock station? And instead of replacing them with another "format" , they become simulcast of other stations we already have!! 101.7- Oldes, 102.1 Oldies. I hope someone will build a Top40 station, with some cool features like B97 was. I'm listening to WFBC right now online, and they are totally different than what WBZN calls "Top 40".
And the future of the new 101.1 in machias doesn't look good at this point? Haha, Top 40 hopefully anyone? Doesn't really need a modern rock, WNSX is nearby, even though their are not similar. There is room on the dial somewhere for another FM Station, some big radio company from another state should come in a buy off some radio stations and see what they can do.

Please do something, this isn't how radio should be.
Presque Isle radio seems like the only radio thats stable right now, unfortunately.

There is an ad in the help-wanted section of today's (Wed. Sept 3) Bangor Daily News for a "Traffic Director Blueberry Broadcasting Bangor". (No phone calls, please)
