BLUEBOX REMOTE WITH A CELL PHONE?

Has anybody had success with running a bluebox on location from a cell phone?
i've heard stories but no one can expalin how it would work

Sorry, tried it won't work and here's why: A cell phone is basicly a one way device ( at least the digital ones are ) it flops back and forth like the old hands free phones passing audio one way then the other as you talk. A Bluebox requires two way conectivity constantly so it can pass a continuious carrier between each end to be sure both ends are there.

I did try using an old line extender on a cell phone and was able to connect but the improvement in audio quality was negligable because the low frequency info is placed in the upper part of the spectrum and reassembled on arrival but a cell doesn't pass much above 1500 hz which is where this info is. Sorry
 
The BlueBox actually has a hands-free cell phone port, but it only routes your mic and headphone audio to the phone (i.e. it doesn't provide any digital audio enhancement). As noted, POTS codecs and frequency extenders designed for "real" phone lines give very poor results on digital cellphones.
