Blueridge Country

Has anyone ever listen to WBRF out of Galax, Va? (www.blueridgecountry98.com) The station has lots of potential but feel they are all over the place. Mornings they have a two person show and they play currents, at 10 they switch to country classics (early 60's to 70's) and then make yet another chagne at 1pm when the afternoon show starts and at 6m they switch to bluegrass. Anythoughts on this heritage radio station. Based on research the station demos are way old.

WBRF was put on the air by the same people who owned and founded WPAQ the legendary Blue Grass AM station in North Carolina and I think that they program them for the older demo. Also what you are hearing is what most radio sounded like when I was growing up. Most of them even the venerable WSM played different music at different times of day as well as having full length news and issue oriented talk segments. In those days there were no play lists or any attempt to have a uniform sound in all day parts.

Once the family that owns it gives it up it will likely become what you are used to I am sure.

That's what everyone I talk to loves about Blue Ridge Country - you never know what you're going to hear. Isn't it awesome that they have live announcers in all dayparts. The station sounds the way radio used to sound before the big groups moved in and made it all the same - too slick, too polished, and sooooo boring.
