Bluewater Broadcasting is at the top of their game....

With all the hoop-la as of late about Montgomery's Bluewater Broadcasting and their operational position in the market, Bluewater is a top operation and they know exactly where they need to be in the Montgomery market and they will accomplish that...

Not only is Rick Peter's an outstanding CEO in whereas Bluewater Broadcasting is really lucky to have him, Rick Peter's is one outstanding programmer the likes of which Montgomery radio most likely hasn't seen in years and won't for a long time to come.

As far as testimonial's go everyone posting in here seems to have their own ideas as to what Bluewaters Rick Peter's should or should not be doing, I assure you Rick knows exactly what he is doing, disappointments will be little if none at all...

I have had the good fortune of working for Rick Peter's during my 35 year radio career(retired) while Rick was programmer of several highly successful Miami/Fort Lauderdale radio stations blowing the doors in on all of the others, that's right! Granted, Rick Peter's has been known to be cranky from time to time, and rightfully so, and with all of these latest posting rants I've recently read regarding Bluewater Broadcasting, the likes of which, clues me in and lends credence to those of you who really have little or no real radio broadcast experience let alone any programming or upper management skills to operate any one of Montgomery's radio stations and that seems to speak volumes.....

Yes, a few of you have shown your butts and have egg all over your face and it shows....:)

Rick Peters has forgotten more about radio than most of the other area owners/programmers will ever know.

If only he'd figured out that 'credits' vs 'debits' thing sooner...

(ducks and runs from thread)

Top cluster in town??

john, you must suffer from a horrible case of carpet burn by now...

wow...what an ego..

Best cluster in town equals number 2 in all locally programmed formats....hmmm? ???

Oh they must mean number one in most format changes.... ;D

Yep, that's right - we suck. Guess that's why in six years only two people have left and gone across the street - one a sales person who decided to be a sales asst. And the other who went back to Stroh - with our blessing. Stroh is a good friend. In that same time period, we've hired 6 of Cumulus' best including their #1 and 2 top two sellers, Skipper, their sales assistant, Mike Alan, Susan Woody, etc.. Yep, we suck alright.

Bluewater sales and collections was top of their game..and they just recently emerged from bankruptcy. The Cumulus sales people leave the Clouds because they have been mistreated and commissions were cut. The Bluewater outfit is probably a good port in the storm these days.
But time will tell if in the long run Bluewater makes the financial grade. If they sell WACV they will not own any real estate, only rental towers and studio leases. And the $19,000 monthly LMA to Alexander to lease LMA the Shorter 107.9. Rents and LMA fees roll on every month.

Didn't Al Stroh get a loss of some money due him from the bankruptcy filing? Good friend?

Buster,

Appreciate the offhanded compliment, but again, you are factually inaccurate. The LMA isn't 19k. That's not even close to being accurate. Stroh didn't lose a penny in the reorg. Another inaccuracy. The only losses were sustained by the equity players including Alta and Managment. By the way, we own the WBAM tower as well as WJWZ (both on leased land however). This in and of itself is not unusual. BTW, considering keeping WACV for a 3rd translator. Just trying to keep the record straight.

EEOC records show more than 2 people have come and gone at Bluewater...

maybe the ego is a little inflated that he doesn't care about any employees beyond sales.

If you read the bankruptcy filing at the FCC website under WACV, the paperwork lists the LMA payments for 107.9 at 19K a month. Which is correct the FCC filing Bluewter filed in court or your claim it is a lot less? No I don't claim to know, except what I read in the FCC filing that any one can read at the AM Query on the FCC website. The land leases on the two FM tower sites seem high to me. It is not a good idea to build a tower site on leased land, unless it is a very long term lease for low dollars. You can always move a studio but it is much harder to find a piece of land to move a transmitting tower. Bluewater is full of expenses that must be made every month, and that is a lot of spot sales in this sluggish ecomony these days.
Not a great time to be in business, and face such high operating expenses for two Class A and one C1 FM in Montgomery along with doing an LMA on some other guys FM.

Cigarlover. Many people have left - most, very possibly you, not voluntarily, or to pursue other careers. And yes, my statement stands, inaccurate as it might have been. But, the truth be told - Two non-programming employees have left. Rad Dodson, who was working with Al Stroh when I bought the stations took a VP/Sales job with Al -again with our blessing. The other employee, who we gave a chance to sell as an account exec. Decided it wasn't for her and went back to her administrative job? What is is with you two? This is the best you can do? Want to go over my grammar too? Your sniping is really beneath the level of expected discourse on these boards. Don't like me? Got it. I really don't care. I sincerely recommend you raise some cash and give operating a cluster in this market a shot. Put yourselves in my shoes for six years and then possibly your opinions will mean something to somebody. Till then - Can't make everyone happy.

Buster, this is really getting tedious, so my final comments here and now. The LMA fee is not 19k. I have no reason to misrepresent it. And while Im sure some will appeciate your business analysis, I don't consider 15-20k in leases to be onerous considering the billing which is over a quarter of a million dollars a month. Really, give it a rest. If you think you can do better, no one is stopping you. The future will show who's correct and who is not. Now feel free to snipe away. I'm done wasting any more time. It's not constructive.

If the radio so offends certain posters, then do what I'm wanting to do.  Build up your music library, save some money and learn about the wonderful world of Internet radio.  Some may say that it's a hobby and won't pan out for me but hey I'm willing to take that risk.

After all I'm now seeing what all is involved in running a full powered terrestrial radio station.  Doing an Internet station would be far better for me anyway.  At least I won't have to answer to any suit and tie people and play the same old songs every other hour.  I get to dictate the playlist and take risks if I chose to do so. Also I won't have to worry about reducing and increasing my power, at certain hours (AM) and protecting someone else's radio station (FM).  I can broadcast the contents of this presentation from the comfort of my own Apple MAC Computer and cover the entire world.

Besides I won't have as much expense in getting this station started and then keeping it going. Also I won't have to worry about all that paperwork that it takes to get into the radio business anyway.

If things work out, I want to have this station in operation sometime next year.

R.D.P. <><

P.S. To sflaboy, keep up the great work with The Gump.  Still listen to it, when I'm able to.

No one is sniping at you, just asking questions that are fair game to ask. You seem to come off as very paranoid over who may or may not have worked with or for you in the past.
